Get to know Thomas F. Kennedy

    So you know, I am the President & CEO of Oz Realtors, which I founded in 2004. I am not just a local Realtor. I am also a lawyer (not now practicing; full-time Realtor) who has been in business in Maryland, DC and Puerto Rico since 1975. I am a former County Commissioner, a Notary Public (should you ever need one) and I lecturer, public speak and teach part-time.

    I am a senior regional representative of the HouseValues.com and JustListed.com Alliance network and a Certified Distressed Property Expert® (CDPE).     As a dedicated real estate agent, I believe I am more qualified than most others in the business to guide someone in buying or selling a home.

    I use all my knowledge and skills in contracts, finance, law, marketing and negotiation to their best advantage.LOCAL EXPERTISE     Born in January 1951, I am not a youngster. I am a life-long resident of the Washington, D.C. Suburbs – grew up in big family (3 brothers and 3 sisters) in Bethesda, and lived in Laurel from 1975 until 2004 when I moved back to the Olney / Ashton / Sandy Spring area of Montgomery County. Though I still own a home in Laurel, my principal residence is in Ashton Preserve.

    I received my diploma from Archbishop Carroll High School in Washington, D.C. in 1969; achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree (with 3 minors) from Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland in 1973 and earned my Juris Doctorate degree from the International School of Law in Washington, D.C. in 1976. (The school, founded in 1972, later moved to Arlington, Virginia, where it became George Mason University School of Law in 1979.)

    After passing the bar exam, I became an attorney with the U.S. Department of State, but soon became very frustrated working with the bureaucracy and inefficiency. Within two years I left the government to go into practice by myself. In 1984 I partnered with the late Edward Jasen, forming the Law Offices of Jasen & Kennedy and, in 1993, formed The Kennedy Group Companies to work with my father when he retired from the U.S. House of Representatives.     I am the past President of two (2) Homeowners Associations (Woodbridge Crossing in Laurel and Ashton Preserve in the Sandy Spring-Silver Spring area), and have been on my HOA Board of Directors for nearly 6 years now. (More than 6 years at my previous HOA).     In addition, as a regional expert for HouseValues and JustListed since 2006, I prepare more than 2 dozen Comparative Market Analysis ("CMA") for homeowners each month, and have helped scores of home buyers buy their homes.

    Because of my schooling, work and decades-long involvement in local politics, I know our cities and towns, as well as our neighborhoods, schools, local economy and market conditions.     I offer seasoned local expertise in a home market that has become more complex in recent years. I tailor that to meet my client's needs, and will do the leg work for them, keeping them up-to-date with new listings and conditions as they impact the market. I make the process as pleasurable and stress-free an experience as I can for all my clients.INTEGRITY     Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest and most important financial transactions in the lives of most people. Because of that, it is important that they work with someone they trust to best represent them and their interests – not just any agent or “a friend of a friend.”     Buyers and sellers should want a true market expert with integrity. In all my years in business since 1976, I have represented thousands of people who have trusted me with their interests and most-valuable assets. I am certain most will find that I am among the best of all active real estate agents in the state.

    It's an enormous responsibility which I take very seriously. SUCCESS     Though I have received my share over the years, I don't measure my success through awards or achievements but, rather, through the satisfaction of my clients.

    When all is said and done, I know that their success is my success.     Whether someone is looking to buy or sell a home, I give them sound advice and guidance upon which they can rely.
