"Words have magical power, and they can either bring the greatest happiness or the deepest despair." - Sigmund Freud.

Words are simply a means of communication for most people. But for some, words have the power to change lives, and words are so powerful that they can make or break someone's destiny.

The right words at the right time can inspire someone to do great things, while the wrong words can destroy someone's life. 

"People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." - Maya Angelou

The spoken words are incredibly powerful. Remember these speeches that have moved us throughout history. Whether it was Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech or JFK's famous "Ask not what your country can do for you" address, the words spoken had the power to change the world.

And while you may not be called upon to give a speech that will change the course of history, your words still have the power to change lives.

Your ability to affect people's lives is within your words, and they can either make another person feel cherished or feel as though they have no value. 

The written words tell stories, communicate ideas, and record information. Writing has provided extraordinary experiences from ancient times to today's digital world.

Negative headlines may sell, but kind and thoughtful written words resonate and are remembered.

A blind man is sitting on the side of the street with a sign, "It's a beautiful day, and I can't see it!" These simple words find ways to reach deep down and touch our hearts and souls! They bring out the goodness and deep emotion within us.

Try saying positive words to yourself in front of a mirror every day for a week, and see how that will change YOU! 

Once words are spoken or written, they don't come back. Positive words inspire and motivate positive action and bring peace. 

Use your words to build people up, not tear them down. And finally, always remember that your words have the power to change lives - for better or for worse. Words matter!

Blind people may actually "see" better than people with the ability to see. They use other senses to experience more deeply.

It is not just the spoken words ... thoughts are powerful too.

Thanks so much for the kind acknowledgment.   Given how quickly you grew a fan base, any number of rainers could have served as inspiration.   

Interestingly, asking a witness how they felt at a given moment is a tactic lawyers use to either circumvent a hearsay problem or when a witness is unable to remember the words spoken during an event. 

Maya is spot on.  How people make us feel is something we don't forget.

Dale Carnegie would love this post!

Great Post. Words are indeed powerful, and they don't even have to be a fancy combination of words. Sometimes it's just a matter of saying the right thing at the right time at the right place. Someday I'll tell you about how one of my innocent blog posts ended up reuniting a family.

Yes, thoughts are powerful too. Translating powerful thoughts into either spoken or written words is a skill we can all practice and learn. 

We trained Dragon Boat racers who are blind to paddle the boat in synchronization with the drums' sounds and feel the dragon boat's motion. Every person in the boat, except the drummer and steersperson, was blind.

Several Rainers inspire me daily as I read and comment on their posts and vice versa. Sometimes someone comes along and says something that "clicks" and compels me to share written words. 

I owe my career in real estate to Dale Carnegie's teaching. I thought I couldn't sell ice to an Eskimo even if my life depended on it! Relationship selling was the key for me.

My husband is a retired defense lawyer, and I used to ask him, "why do you always ask the questions you already know the answer to? His reply was, "why not?"

Only TWO species known to man answer questions with a question: A Thai and a lawyer! Go figure! 🙃

How long will you keep me curious about the innocent post you mentioned?

I know someone a few years ago who shared that her life was ruined because of her father's unkind words. After he passed away, she ended up in therapy for over ten years to turn her life around. What a sad situation!

How is your back doing?

Very interesting Aura and words do matter...what you say and often what is left unsaid. My which school principal had a sign on his desk: A Word Said is a Word Dead."  Basically, it meant...choose your words carefully.   Share kind and supporting words and hold close to you words that will hurt.
