Every time we disparage the state of the economy and talk about the terrible state of real estate, we create a self fulfilling prophesy. It is my view that if we are positive, then positive things will happen. There are great opportunities in the market and it is time to stress the positive, and put a bow on it.

Yesterday I lost my best boy, Billy the Kid. He was a special rescue dog that had been in my life since September 2008. I am devastated and find it hard to move forward but will because life is peppered by loss and there is no respite. Having said that I have no words today.

I can't stop crying. I just finished burying my best boy Billy the Kid. I knew it was coming but I didn't plan on it today. He couldn't eat a small soft piece of bagel this morning: he tried but spit it out. The Vet said he was having trouble just breathing. He had lost another pound and a half s...

Mongolia is full of nomadic people who live on and off the land and the animals they keep. They live simply but fully. When I was there I experienced both ends of the spectrum, the very real and hardworking, and those who had inherited the family herd and had a 150K Land Rover outside their Ger (...

Well it looks like I may be traveling longer than I expected or wanted. The weather in Bejing in really bad and my flighht from Mongolia probably won't make the connection to New York. There is no word here but it isn't looking good. Luckily I have friends from my trip who live in Bejing. There a...

I am leaving in about six hours to go home from my Mongolia adventure. I have been here for about two weeks. The diversity of the country is great and its idiosyncrasies are even greater. In much of the country there are no roads: not bad roads, just none. So drivers just go through fields with n...

I have been off the grid for several days flying and hiking around most of Mongolia. As I write this I am a Best Western hotel in Ulaanbaater, that is a real luzury. It is far from Best Western's I have known. In any event I will have a good nights sleep in a clean and beautiful place and then my...
