Bucks county was founded in 1682 by William Penn. He named it after his family home in Buckinghamshire, England. Penn's home Pennsbury manor is located in Bucks County. Bucks County is famous for its historic sites including Mercer Museum, Washington Crossing Historic park, Pennsbury Manor, Pearl S Buck House and many other sites. Bucks county has small towns and villages as well as big townships. In December 1776 George Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River from Bucks County.
