Riverside Park stretches over four miles along the Hudson River from 62nd to 158th Streets, the 330 acres of Riverside Park provide recreation and relaxation for a uniquely diverse population.

Rugged bluffs and rocky outcroppings created through prehistoric glacial deposits once descended directly to the Hudson River shore. They were densely wooded until 1846, when the Hudson River Railroad cut through the forested hillside.

At the intersection of Broadway and Amsterdam at West 72nd Street is the famous Hot Doggery Gray's Papaya.
I usually don't write about restaurants or food even though I love to eat. I try to stay away from politics as well.... But sometimes...
I can't help it - while not very healthy I still love a good Hot Dog with mustard and sauerkraut once in a while.
Any one who turns on the TV, reads a newspaper or goes online these days can't help hearing about the "Horse Race" I mean the Presidential election campaign.
"Obama Wins", It's Over for Hillary", "Hillary makes a … (13 comments)

Hotel des Artistes - 1 West 67th Street  Upper West Side
Originally built to house painters and sculptors, this beautiful 1918 building - with studios that feature double-height windows and wonderful light - quickly began to draw artistic residents from other fields.
In 1922 Rudolph Valentino America's hottest movie star at the time rented a bachelor pad at Des Artistes, even though he was married to his second wife, Natasha Rambova at the time.
Actually he was still married to his first wife, Jean Acker because his divorce in California would not be final until the following year. Valentino was charged … (14 comments)

upper west side: Wachovia Upper West Side: Co-op Equity - 08/20/07 07:16 AM
Back in July I wrote a post "Say NO to DRUGS" Store Chains when I discovered that on the block between west 87th and west 88th Street on the west side of Broadway a new Walgreens Drug store is coming.
I live between 86th and 87th on Broadway. I first discovered something going on when I went to have dinner at The Malaysia Grill a restaurant at my corner and found out they were closing going out of business. The next morning I went to the Korean Grocer that had been there for many years, the place was gutted and the family that owned the store was … (2 comments)

The Ansonia - Upper West Side - 2109 Broadway

When The Ansonia opened in 1904 it was called:
"the most technologically advanced apartment house in the world"
Loaded with towers, mansard roofs, ornate balconies, balustrades, and bay windows, the Ansonia is easily Broadway's most opulent structure. When it opened in 1904, this extraordinary, eighteen story Beaux Arts building provided tenants with such luxuries as electric stoves, hot and cold filtered water, freezers, a pneumatic -tube system to deliver messages, and even an early form of central air conditioning.
The building also had incredibly thick walls installed to protect against fire, which … (15 comments)

Tom Cruise has been on the news and in the papers these past few days for being fired by Paramount pictures for jumping on Oprah's couch and talking about Scientology. Since this is a real estate blog I won't comment on that. However I will comment about the building that both Tom and I Lived in circa 1981.
My first Manhattan apartment was a studio with a sleeping loft complete with brick wall and huge windows. It was on the parlor floor of a limestone mansion built in the early 1900's. In the photo it's the apartment … (8 comments)
