NYC Brings Back the Old Lever Voting Machines for today's primary
NYC Primary Election September 10, 2013

and candidates with ideas from the past.
The city switched to electronic scanners in 2010 but is bringing back the old levers today because of logistics because there most likely will be a run-off election for Mayor.
Nostalgia: Bringing back old machines makes sense since the leading candidate wants to bring back NYC to the 1970's. He is running an anti Bloomberg campaign. Of course Bloomberg is not running. He wants to go back to the good old days of The Dinkins administration.

nyc: From Trash to Treasure | Freshkills Park - 09/28/12 01:36 AM

At 2,200 acres, Freshkills Park will be almost three times the size of Central Park and the largest park developed in New York City in over 100 years. The transformation of what was formerly the world’s largest garbage dump landfill into a productive and beautiful cultural destination will make the park a symbol of renewal and an expression of how our society can restore balance to its landscape.
In addition to providing a wide range of recreational opportunities, including many uncommon in the city, the park’s design, ecological restoration and cultural and educational programming will emphasize … (6 comments)

A Day to Remember!

The beautiful September day today was much like the day 11 years ago. However, today I began my day at a closing that took place in an office on the 77th floor of The Empire State Building. It took a while waiting for the bank to show up with the funds but the view of Manhattan was worth the wait.

After my closing I had to show an apartment in the Village. As I walked along Houston Street (pronouced How Stun) I saw the new Word Trade Center tower from every block I passed by … (11 comments)

nyc: Speechless Sunday | NYC Hansom Cabs - 08/18/12 11:45 PM
Carriage Rides in Central Park!
The Hansom cab is a kind of horse-drawn carriage designed and patented in 1834 by Joseph Hansom.
It's a quintessential NYC tourist thing to do - to take a Hansom cab ride around Central Park.
The cabs line up around the south end of the park, across from the famous Plaza Hotel.

Animal rights activists are calling for an end to Hansom cab rides in NYC

Animal advocacy groups support a bill banning rides on horse-drawn carriages in New York City.
Should Hansom cabs stay in NYC? What do you think?
