The second quarter data had both surprises and not some surprises. When you are out selling and working with buyers on a day to day basis, Realtors just instinctively know what is happening. If a buyer wants a home in a certain neighborhood and a certain price point then the hunt is on. My last two listings both had offers within 2 weeks, a home in Saline and a condo in Ann Arbor. We were going to our lake cottage this weekend at Manitou Beach, Mi. and passed the most amazing sunflower garden. We were driving too fast to stop but on the way home, I made my husband pull over to get some photos. There were at least 6 other cars doing the same thing. When I think of sunflowers I think of being in college and staying up all night playing bridge and eating sunflower seeds. Yes, my town, Saline, Michigan is all abuzz with news of Drew Barrymore, making her directing debut here this summer. Flower Productions, a film company from West Hollywood, set up offices in downtown Saline last week. Mayor Gretchen Driskell and Mayor protem Alicia Ping worked hard and fast to get Verizon to set up extra connections for the filming in Saline. The 1st day of May is here and it is chilly outside and it has been chilly in market too. Last year from April 1st 2007 to April 30th, 2007, we had closed on 148 homes in Ann Arbor. This April from April 1st to April 30th, 2008, we only closed on 29 homes in Ann Arbor. Now if that is not discouraging enough, of the 29 that sold, 9 were rentals and three were foreclosure's. I took the plunge and ordered Mixpo from Activerain. Thanks to Brad Andersohn, walking me through it the first time, I was able to put this first video together. Brad promises me he is going to be doing a step by step tutorial on it. There are so many things you can do with it that it will take me some time playing around with it to get good. I think I deleted and started over so many times my eyes were crossed. Yea, I said "absolutely" way too much.
Friday night we were having dinner at Bridgewater Bank in Saline, MI. It was crazy snowing and the restaurant was not too crowded, so we lingered. No one was in a hurry to get out and scrape their windshieds to go home.

Our first snow fall in Saline, MI. Oh, we've had a few flurries... but his is the real thing. My son, Jamie who is going into the Navy is home and his girlfriend who lives in Tennessee flew in for the weekend. Malena was born and raised in California. Malena is sooooooo excited. Saturday, December 1st the 32nd annual Christmas Parade is coming to downtown Saline, Mi. The theme for 2007 is "It's A Wonderful Life in Saline". In July of 2005, Toyota won a long, hard fought battle to build a research and development facility in York Township. York Township is in the Saline Area School District and also parts of Milan School District. The battle was long due to a developer wanting to purchase the land and build more houses on it. This is a good weekend as I have at least one showing on some of my homes that have been moving rather slowly. Today I listed this house in Saline, MI. The sellers had interviewed me last May and I didn't get the listing. Why ? Because I told them the truth. The house should be priced in the 470's. They chose a Realtor that listed it at 515,000. That was fine, they had only owned the home for 2 years and they were going to be losing 25,000 just on the list price with a full price offer and that is not going to happen in this market. My family and I are headed out to our cottage tomorrow morning. I am going to have some good quality family time.
