You can see from the chart below that our inventory is DOWN. That is a good thing, unless you are a buyer looking in a certain price point or neighborhood. Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester and Ypsilanti Michigan market data. Below you will see a chart that is comparing the Average Price and the Average Days on the Market. All the area's in Washtenaw County have a longer time on the market. According to the data the more expensive the house the longer it is going to take to sell. Chelsea is about 15 miles West of Ann Arbor. Dexter is about 5 miles West of Ann Arbor. Manchester is aprox. 10 miles outside Saline and Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township is East of Ann Arbor. Saline, Dexter, Chelsea are charming communities located outside of Ann Arbor. So how are those communities doing in this market? The medium prices have obviously come down the last few months. Dexter has the highest price ranges these past few months.Michigan in general and Saline, Dexter, Chelsea has a seasonal market. It is not unusual to see prices come down. We close the most homes between March and August. One of the draws of these communities is the school systems. Our schools begin in September, this year September 8th. Saline, Michigan where I work, live and eat has been ranked in the TOP 100 Cities to live in by CNN Money Magazine for 2009. Actually we rank #63 which is fantastic. Our population is aproximately 9000. Saline Area Schools are great, which is one of the big attractions and why people move here. St. Joe's Mercy Hospital in Saline, MI. Solucient, a leading procider of information for the healthcare industry has said the St.Joseph Mercy Hospital in Saline is in the top 100. Now being a city of only 7000 residents but surrounded by Lodi, Saline, Pittsfield and Saline Townships this was tremendous news. As a mom of 5 who has made many visits there with broken arms, fingers and thumbs this was excellent news. Of course if you live in Saline you already knew it was great news. Weber-Blaess School house was moved to the Saline District Schools Campus in June of 2002. It is the original one room school house of children in Saline MI and Lodi Township. The school house is used by elementary school children to create the experience of a one room, county school house. It is right on the campus and is a monument to how far we have come. It has been totally restored by the Saline Historical Society and dedicated in 2004. It is also available for rent.

The Sidetrack Bar and Grill is a charming restaurant in Ypsilanti Michigan; it is located in Depot Town and has the best burgers. It is a completely laid back atmosphere and reminds me of the way life use to be, with lots of old photos on the walls of the history of the SideTrack Restaurant. The Sidetrack has been in business since the 1800's when it was started across from the railroad tracks in Ypsilanti. The Amtrak Train passes through there although it never stops anymore. You have to pick up a ticket to Chicago in Ann Arbor.

Michigan homeowners need to be aware of the new law that went in to effect for homeowners who have moved and have not been able to sell their home in Michigan. It is an extension of the Homeowners Primary Residence Exemption.
The law is called PA 96 of 2008, and it is a huge tax break for people in Michigan that expands the Principal Residence Exemption on unsold homes. If you live in Michigan, and own a home you are allowed to claim one house for a primary home exemption.

This Sunday, August 17th the Saline Area Schools Preservation Foundation will hold an old fashion ice cream social at the Weber Blaess School. The Weber Blaess School is a one room school house that was restored in 2004. It was the former school house of students from Saline and Lodi Township. Each year different classes of elementary children at Saline Area Schools get to visit the school and see what it was like to attend school in a one room school house. I live in Saline, Mi and love it. It is a wonderful community to live and raise a family. Saline is located on a few miles South of Ann Arbor and we live only 6 minutes to Briarwood Mall. One of the main attractions to Saline is the schools. We have the largest school buildings in Michigan. Saline High School opened in September of 2007 and is a gorgeous building. Looks more like a small Division 3 college campus with all the athletic fields and a new elementary school Harvest on campus. Why did we chose to live in Saline … (17 comments)
