Living in So Cal is such a great place! Always so many and fun things to do. The list below is one I've compiled for mid-October and beyond for Brea, CA. Senior Driving Classes ~ October 13, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 Brea's Senior Center is conducting a driver's class in safety for seniors. The lass includes reviewing traffic laws and safety techniques especially for seniors. If you're a senior you will find this session helpful in renewing your license. The City of La Habra is a city located in Northern Orange County California. La Habra is also a city with a big heart. The City of La Habra in conjunction with the group America Supporting Americans program has adopted an Airborne Division of the "Screaming Eagles". Recognizing the Charlie Company 46 of the 101st Airborne Division, the city is proudly supporting the fine men and women serving in the Armed Forces. Read more here on the support of the city. This exciting jazz festival with wonderful live performances will run through the month of September, concluding the evening of September 29th Brea downtown is located west of the Brea Mall at Birch Street and Brea Blvd. General admission is FREE for this series of performances, although if you prefer, you can buy reserved seating for $35 per person. Like many others I've certainly had a great time and learned much from my personal involvement on Active Rain. The people I've met and the friends I've made as a result of AR has truly enriched my life in many ways. At this point the majority of my posts were written as Localism, I've loved showcasing my communities with others. Yesterday I realized I was approaching 100 and I thought I'd like to do what I can to give back to my community in my own small way with a post that could hopefully help our beautiful state and the planet. Brea ~ CA going green all around the town and it couldn't be easier! The City of Brea announces a new e-waste program now in operation for Brea residents. In the past the only way to properly dispose of old computers, monitors, T.V.'s, etc. was to pay a visit to the Hazardous Waste Disposal facility at 1071 Blue Gum St. in Anaheim. I should know, I've made plenty of trips to this facility myself. However now Brea residents can save yourself a trip and bucks normally spent for gas $$$ (that's another good thing, isn't it?) by calling to schedule an (14 comments)

Brea ~ CA ~ Good Old Brea's City Hall Park is like stepping back in time. A day in the park can be like step back in time,...maybe a time when we lived in simpler times. Brea's City Hall Park is just one of those places. I love this little park. It continues to be a place for family fun and offers a glimpse of yester-year in our community of Brea. The park is located on Brea Blvd. in what at one time was considered the heart of the city. In 1929 it was home to the original Civic Center, Brea's Police Station and the (20 comments)

La Habra, CA 90631 La Habra's own local, live theater, The Depot Theater plays host to the production of "HONK", running now through August 19th, This production is a musical suited for the whole family. This unique theater is located in the former Pacific Electric Depot Building. Built in 1909 this facility was donated to the City of La Habra in the mid-70's and moved to the present location in Portola Park. The theater is now completely ran by dedicated volunteers and it's also listed on the Orange County Historical Register. This small intimate theater is a local venue to a wide variety of productions. Paint Your Heart Out is a national non-profit organization of community volunteers lending a helping hand to senior citizens within across the country. Volunteers repair, refurbish and paint homes of low-income seniors 65+ and disabled homeowners in communities throughout the U.S. The Mission: Paint Your Heart Out, Inc. is a volunteer driven nonprofit organization that helps low income, senior, or disabled homeowners maintain their dignity, safety and connections to the community. This outstanding organization with the help of community volunteers has helped homeowners over the years. In the past many of my Orange County friends have participated in this worthwhile event. Our community of Brea is unique in many ways. We have a small town feeling, yet with bigger city benefits. Week-days we normally have over 100,000 people who work and live in our city. Yet the resident population is 39,000-40,000. We have a strong economic base within our business community, take a look at Brea-Means-Business as an example. Brea is also known for excellence in education. The Brea-Olinda School district is well know for outstanding schools. Many of our schools have been recognized nationally as National Blue Ribbon school. The state-of-the-art Brea-Olinda High School is a "Distinguished School" for 2007. Folks come (33 comments)

It's that time once again! Brea's FREE concerts at City Hall Park! Take a break mid-week to enjoy the fun and meet friends. Just bring the blankets, folding chair and the kids. Swimming is available in the Brea Plunge, Orange County's oldest community pool. Concerts are held Wednesdays beginning next week, July 11 through August 29.
