The Upper West Side extends north from 72nd Street up to 96th Street and is bordered by Central Park West and Riverside Park. The 96th Street station has a futuristic looking glass dome. The new station opened but is expected to be completed next year. Both stations are located in the Broadway median. The 8th Avenue subway B & C trains run along Central Park West.
Upper West Side zoning does not permit buildings to be taller than 20 stories between 72nd and 96th Streets. The building are mostly pre war buildings. The Upper West Side is home to some extraordinary buildings.
