Winter is still upon us with the promise of Spring's arrival March 21. The Elk Refuge is filled with the magnificence of thousands of Elk and recently visible was a pack of wolves looking on. A large herd of Big Horned Sheep can be viewed on the eastern perimeter of the refuge. Moose are everywhere and it is not surprising to arrive home to find one relaxing in your driveway. Activities such as cross country skiing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, snow shoeing and ice skating continue to be full swing. Our Elk Refuge sleigh rides are still quite active and one can experience an up close and personal view of our spectacular winter herd. The National Museum of Wildlife Art is open free to all area locals the first Sunday of every month.For more information on curre nt exhibits: www.wildlifeart.org. The Grand Teton Music Festival is offering winter chamber music at Walk Festival Hall in Teton Village March 13 and 19 between 7:30-9:30 PM. For more details please visit www.gtmf.org. And finally this month the 34th World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb is scheduled for March 28-29 as machines are challenged to climb the 1500 foot vertical rise at Snow King. SKI REPORT: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort launched its new Tram mid December with its over 4,000 vertical feet of varied terrain. Season to date there is over 356 " of snowfall with snow depth of 91" on the upper mountain and 281 " of snowfall and 72" mid mountain with 11 out of 12 lifts open, 116 of 116 trails and 35 of 48 groomed trails.
