Last summer I received a call from an agent in Montana who had found my profile on ActiveRain. Her bestfriend from her school days was moving to Baltimore with her husband and soon to be twin boys. The husband was taking a job at Johns Hopkins and they were to move in September/October of 2012. I spoke to my buyers over the phone and by email several times and referred them to one of my favorite lender partners and got them approved for a mortgage, that was easy because they had been very responsible and had great credit. We determined an area they wanted to live in and I started sending them listings. We spent a fun filled weekend discovering neighborhoods close to where the husband would be working and found just the right house. They decided on the Homeland neighborhood in Baltimore City and we found a lovely house that needed a little work so they made an appropriate offer and after a lot of negotiations were able to purchase the home. They met with a contractor that I've used many times in the past and have since had a kitchen renovation and settled into their new home with their new family. "Ah, where do I begin? I started blogging on Active Rain in June of 2007. I am writing this success story in February of 2010. By September of 2007 we got our first listing from a seller who found our blog through an organic search on Google. Then in October we got 4 more listings and 2 buyers. Then in December we got another 4 listings and another buyer. We started to get referrals from other agents in the Active Rain network by the end of 2007.

In February of 2008; we started to get 1 listing per week and then in April that turned to about 4 listings per week! We quickly started to increase our listing inventory to over 30 to 40 listings just from our Active Rain blog. This was incredible and I was hooked! This continued throughout 2008 and into the spring of 2009. Then it slowed down. However to this day, we get calls on a weekly basis. Some of the listing do not fit our business model so we turn those down.

We also get alot of exposure for our sellers on their listings when I blog their homes and properties. In fact, many times a buyer will call their agent to look at one of our listings because they found our blog with that particular listing being showcased.

But more than even the business that we have generated and are so thankful for; the friends I have made are treasures to behold. I can go anywhere in the US and Canada and know that I have a place to stay by calling upon one our fellow Active Rain members.

I am grateful that I can repay all that we have been given from the rain in providing the Active Rain community with helpful articles to build business, train agents and that I can provide tutorials that help you take your Active Rain blog to the next level. I am also an Active Rain RainCamp Keynote Speaker.

Whatever you do, do not quit, do not stop blogging. It takes a few months for most people to experience results. Hang in there! You will be glad you did, enjoy the journey!
