A little more about me ...
I am an Arizona native, born and raised in Phoenix. I moved to Tucson in the early eighties, and have called it home ever since. I cannot imagine living anywhere else! I am continually amazed at the beauty of the desert. I'm an only child, and if you have met me, you know that explains a lot! I moved my Mom to Oro Valley this summer to be closer to me, and she cannot get over the amazing Santa Catalina Mountains!
I am what the runner John Bingham calls an "adult onset athlete". Having topped out at 260 pounds in 2000, I lost more than 120 pounds over a two year span with diet and exercise (no surgeries), and I've managed to keep it off ever since. Needless to say a healthy diet and lots of exercise are very high priorities for me. I ran my first mile at age 40, my first 5K a few months later, and my first half-marathon last year. Earlier this year I worked with a group of people and helped them to walk in their first 5K. It was such a rewarding experience that I can't wait to do it again next year! I also fell in love with yoga a few years ago, and I practice at least 3 times per week. I swear it keeps me young, flexible and sane in this sometimes crazy world. I get up very early in the morning put in a couple of hours of exercise before the rest of the world gets out of bed. Staying strong and healthy has made me a better person in every aspect of my life, personally and professionally!
