"We started to search for our first home in November of 2005. We started by going to a mortgage company and getting a pre-approval for a loan. The company we went through gave us a lead to a couple of realtors. We spent months looking at different properties and deciding what we really wanted in a house. The realtors started out working really hard for us until it came time to actually get a house. The mortgage company we planned on using wasn’t able to get the deal that we wanted done. The realtors we were using decided to drop us after finding out we wouldn’t settle for the terms the mortgage company wanted us to settle for. To make matters worse the house we were renting had new renters coming in and we had to do something.

In March of 2006 we found a mortgage company that was willing to work hard for us and get what we wanted done. Our new mortgage guy told us that if we could wait a little while (about a month or so) he would be able to get us approved for at least a 90/10 loan. He also told us to keep looking, if we found a property that we really liked he would get us the loan. That’s when we found Rick.

The realtors we were using had dropped us. To our advantage we hadn’t signed a contract with them so we weren’t bound to use them. I was on the REMAX website looking at different properties. I signed up so I could get the full benefit of the website, to our luck, I got paired up with Rick.

Rick wasn’t pushy in anyway. He noticed I kept checking on a property and he sent me an email saying if we wanted to go see the property he would make an appointment. The first house we looked at was on Easter Sunday. I never thought a realtor would be willing to show a house on a Sunday let alone on Easter. Rick seemed really down to earth and was willing to show us houses anytime any day. This really worked out for us because my husband and I both work very odd hours.

One day we went around to 9 properties. Some of them were good and others were so bad that we didn’t even stop in. At one of the properties we were scheduled to look at, we pulled up, Rick looked at my husband and I and said “I don’t think so” and we drove off. That is what I really liked about Rick. He didn’t force us to look at anything. Even if we went into a place and half way through we hated it, all we had to do was tell him and to the next property we went.

We narrowed it down to two houses. One was a listing that a co-worker of Ricks was the listing agent for and the other was not. The best thing about this is Rick didn’t push us to get the house of his co-workers. He really wanted what was best for us which wasn’t that property. We closed on our house on May 12, 2006. Rick was there at the closing with us, and believe me, that wasn’t the easiest thing we have ever done. I can’t say enough good things about Rick. He really does his job and is great at it. If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t own our house.
