Description:I'm a mortgage professional, a blogger covering the mortgage industry (lenderama.com), a contributor to the Inman News Blog, and the creator of the REMBEX search engine.

About Todd Carpenter:

I started lenderama in January of 2005 as a way to keep in touch with my old client base. I had left my position as an account executive for a wholesale mortgage lender, and wouldn't be making sales calls to all the client relationships I had forged of the years. I had 54 clients. My hope was that 27 (half) of them would read my blog. I underestimated this medium.

Today, thousands of loan professionals visit my blog every week. I've received press in Investors Business Dailey, RIS Media, Inman News, and Inside Mortgage Technology. I was interviewed and quoted for the McGraw Hill published book, Realty Blogging, and even invited to be a contributor to the Inman News Blog. I've been called a pioneer in realty blogging, but from day one, I've been tracking the successes and failures of what other bloggers are doing to better my own efforts.

Along the way, I've always tried to share what I found. At first, I simply maintained a long list of Real Estate and Mortgage Bloggers. Then I turned it into a search engine. Lately I have been interviewing other bloggers to see what they are doing, and even maintain a list of great posts that I think would benefit other bloggers. I've come to the realisation that no one person is the last word in RE blogging. So I've taken the opposite approach. I'm seeking everyone's opinion.

I have questions is my way of bringing Blog Fiesta to Active Rain. Nobody's a true RE blogging expert yet, let's get there together.

My History

My first job in the Mortgage Industry was over summer vacation between my junior and senior years of high school. I used to curiour VOE's and VOD's around town for pruchase deals that couldn't wait for the US mail. I was actually born into this industry as my mother was an RE agent while I was growing up, then later went into mortgages herself.

I originated my first loan in 1991.

In 1998, I switched to client representation in wholesale lending.

In 2000, I became a sales rep for Myers Internet. I sold web solutions for mortgage brokers across the country.

In 2002 I went back to wholesale, working for the broker division (Commonwealth United Mortgage) of National City Mortgage.

In 2005, I started blogging. Now, I'm drawing from this divergent career path to find ways to help other Real Estate and Mortgage Professionals harness technoligy to make themselves more effective.

Dan Green - The Mortgage Reports
"I think Todd Carpenter may have been the first mortgage industry blogger. I remember when I started blogging in early-2005, Todd's Lenderama was already chock full o' posts and I aspired to be Todd."
