A wonderful place to call home! Only being here a couple of years we have made great friends and enjoy raising our daughter here in this charming small town. We love the central location with the ability to hop in the car and be at either of the coastal beaches or shopping in the metropolitan areas of Tampa, Orlando, and Sarasota. With Sebring's affordable housing it provides something for everyone from retirees looking for a comfortable, warm place to live to young families looking for a great environment in which to raise children.
Think there isn't much to do in a small town? We have found it to be quite the opposite, we are busy all the time. You'll find the outdoor activity options to be endless. You can sit back and relax on one of our lake side beaches or enjoy a peaceful walk through our beautiful Highlands Hammock state park. You'll find crystal clear lakes for fishing, boating, skiing and sailing. Play golf? Enjoy a round a golf at one of more than a dozen golf courses within the county. You will also find plenty of areas for biking, hiking, and horseback riding.
Like a faster pace? Sebring is the home of America's oldest and most famous road racing track. Founded over a half century ago, Sebring International Raceway is the Mecca of sports car racing in North America, hosting the famous Mobil One Twelve Hours of Endurance Race every March. Sebring is the premier event on the American Le Mans Series schedule, attended by nearly 100,000 people each year from around the world.
A steady growth rate continues to provide many employment opportunities for Sebring residents. Some of the larger employers are Florida Hospital, Highlands Regional Hospital and Wal-Mart in addition to a variety of other retail, restaurant and professional businesses. A recent study completed by the University of Florida predicts that Highlands County will grow from its current population of 100,000 to over 130,000 by the year 2015.
