Thank you for visiting my Active Rain profile! When you are searching for a lender online, it's all about credibility. I have tried to put myself in your shoes and ask, "What should I be looking for as I try to decide who to work with?"
There is no simple answer, but I don't think I would always look for the lowest rate. Although rate is certainly an important factor, lenders aren't able to lock your rate at the time they offer a quote. Instead, I would try to focus on the individual providing the information:
Do they seem knowledgeable?
Are they local?
Do I believe in the company and business model they represent?
Does their loan proposal meet my needs?
These are just a few of the questions you should ask yourself as you begin this process. Here is some information about myself and my team that will hopefully give you the answers you are looking for.
I joined the industry in 2003 working as a mortgage banker in Bellevue, WA. I now work out of our Silverdale office, and serve clients all over the state of Washington. I work as a member of a lending team with my father, Mike, and our processor, Kristen.
Mike (DFI Lic# 510-LO-46227) is a Certified Mortgage Planner with over 30 years experience in the Real Estate industry, having worked as a Lender, Title Officer, Limited Practice Officer, Real Estate Broker, Builder, Developer, and Land-use consultant. Kristen worked in retail banking for 11 years before joining our team over 2 years ago, and her knowledge of that business is an amazing resource in many mortgage lending situations.
Between us, we have over 18 years experience in mortgage lending, and have closed over 1,050 real estate loans.

UPDATE (9/10/08) - As part of my commitment to offer my clients the most knowledge and expertise available, I am currently studying (in my spare time) to earn an advanced financial planning designation. This requires a significant investment of time and resources, but I believe it will give my clients another distinct advantage over those who work with a traditional loan salesman.
