MADISON, MISSISSIPPI...is it the next "Best Place to Live" based on an examination of statistics like crime, average income, average education level, churches, public and private school systems, athletics, community involvement, covenants, cleanliness, convenience, and business expansion? Well, probably,...no,absolutely!
Madison has no apartments. All residents must either purchase or lease their homes. Property values and conditions are paramount in this city, benefiting all property owners.
Our police department, as well as our schools, have a "no tolerance" policy that they adhere to diligently. Be aware of this even on your first venture into the area. Speed limit and stop signs must be obeyed, along with all the other instructional signs.
All commerical buildings are constructed per the Madison covenants that pertain to specific roofing, paint color, brick color, etc. Our Wal-Mart is even brick and the overpass bridge at the I-55 intersection is actually brick, as well. And all must be in accordance with a sign ordinance that controls the size of all signs that can be erected.
The educational system that has been pain-stakingly put into place here is nothing less than phenomenal. The high schools offer cirriculums that are close to community college level, along with an assortment of electives, and many gifted or advanced courses, too. Extra-cirricular activites such as band, choir, drama, all types of sports from football to rugby and soccer, golf, basketball, baseball, and the list goes on. The actual school buildings themselves are all relatively new artistic architechtural creations that lend themselves to a memorable experience for your child (and you) as they progress through their educational world.
There are several large parks in the area that are very accomodating for any and all sporting activities, along with festivals and celebrations.
Sound like paradise yet? Well, maybe not paradise, but lets throw in a huge Reservoir that has it's own yatch club, and is navigated daily by sail boats, fishermen, skiers, and all those drawn to water sports. Plenty of family fun can be had at the Ross Barnett Reservoir whether you live right on the shores or just drive over for an afternoon spin on the water.
There is so much more to say about Madison, but when you get here, I can fill you in on everything else you will need to know like restaurants that are off the beaten path, secret book stores, crazy consignment shops where from time to time you will find the deal of a lifetime.
