He has a background in providing counseling services -- he was a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Ann Arbor, Michigan prior to moving to Chicago.  Doing this kind of work taught him to listen carefully and to be humble (because it was hard work for everyone involved.)

He has also had lifelong experience doing construction.  He has renovated many places, both his own and others, and he has become quite adept at carpentry, tile, plumbing, painting, drywall, etc.  His hands-on background in construction helps him understand buildings and to offer excellent feedback about building condition.

He loves getting the best deal for his clients.  (His friends even ask him to help them when they need to buy a new car or an appliance.)  He is motivated to negotiate in a practical and fair way to get the most for his customers.
