Just said good night to my Bible Study ladies and came across your post.  We actually discussed integrity tonight.  Our study discussed that the only thing we have coming ang going from this world is our name.  Whether we strengthen it or tarnish it is what's in between.  Thanks for your code of honor idea.  I'm challenged to use yours as a template and write one for myself.  Great standard to live by.

Code of ethics...we obviously have that.  Do all Realtors abide by it?  Not necessarily.....its nice to hear that you are going above and beyond!

Yes it is ourselves that we have to live with after we make a decision.  I hold myself accountable for every little thing I do.  If I don't like the outcome I look and see where I made the mistake.  I think if more people really held themselves accountable our world would be a much better place to live.

Cynthia-Thanks for stopping by. I really live by this code, it is embedded in my mind and honestly I don't know any other way to be.  I believe all of us must work on accountibility, I think it is human nature to go the opposite, why, it's easier.  I really appreciate the comment.

I could have not said it better myself. Our profession is challenging and our personal code of ethics gets tested every day, 24 hours a day. I do believe in holding the standards high and putting our customers' priorities first.

Nice post Midori!  Your right about having a PERSONAL CODE OF HONOR, and setting high standards for oneself. Its too easy slip all the way down the slope even with one instance of bending/breaking the rules.

Sometimes it's hard for me to keep emotion out....I have been told by some that I went above and beyond....and am a family friend.  I suppose those are the rare ones.

Sally-I know its hard to keep emotion out, we can feel as the customer does we just can't make decisions based on it, keep your focus on what you are trying to accomplish or the task at hand.  I have learned to walk away and come back to things, take a deep breath before I speak and always always put the other party in my shoes and me in theirs.  As long as I do not let my emotion determine what I am going to do next, I know that everything will be alright.  It's hard in this business because people sometimes disregard our profession.  

Wow Midori- I'm impressed!  What an incredible read!  I've often too thought of putting something together for my clients, but my office actually has one that I thought was well written and simply attach that to my listings or buyer rep agreement.  I'm considering writing my own now! Great Job!

If only people could understand that most of us really care, actually get emotional when we make there dreams come true. I don't know how many of us there are left but I actually still get a tear in my eye when I hand a buyer there new keys. Following the code only makes our lives easier, it's to bad others don't feel that way.
