Rich Jacobson, beloved Community Builder and consummate crabber, was rushed to the hospital late last night after a daring raid on an Upper Manhattan condo left him seriously injured. Police have refused to comment, citing the ongoing investigation, but our sources claim he was violently attacked with a set of bongo drums. In an unlikely turn of events, eye witnesses claimed to have seen Matthew McConaughey streaking from the scene.

Federal investigators are still questioning inmates and staff at the facility where Rich was being held. It is thought that he simply walked out after (politely) asking the guard to open the door.

The motive for Rich's late night sortie are unknown, but many industry pundits believe he was seeking the missing Blogs link. A small but vocal minority have also suggested dementia.

This is an ongoing story… stayed tuned for live, late-breaking updates.

Update (10/11/2008 @ 3:01pm PST): Hospital officials have released Rich's condition as stable. Uncorroborated reports are suggesting that Rich's midnight incursion was successful, and that the Blogs link is due to be delivered to ActiveRain headquarters in mere minutes. A substantial crowd has gathered outside his room, waving flags and banging cowbells in celebration.

73 Comments on AR News Wire: Rich Lauded as Local Hero!

October 10, 2008: America's Most Wanted's, John Walsh pleeded for any information leading to the capture of Rich Jacobson who escaped the authorities in NYC and He ordered the quick return of the Blogs button to the Active Rain Website.

10/11/2008 03:25 PM by Jane Page Thompson (The Carolina Real Estate Company)

FREE RICH! FREE Rich! Free Rich! He's innocent! He was just trying to help us Rainers everywhere. In these unstable times, to have someone change the look of the Rain is just too much for us to handle.

10/11/2008 03:31 PM by Linda Jandura North Carolina Realtor (Home Buyer & Seller Specialist)

Thanks for brightening our day.  'Glad to know that SOMEone is searching for the BLOGS link!

P.S.  You can still get to "BLOGS" by clicking on the link next to "HOME" on the upper left of your screen, but please don't tell anyone or they may take that away, too.

10/11/2008 03:31 PM by Margaret Woda, Crofton Maryland Real Estate (Long & Foster REALTORS)

Well, I hope that he has protection. I just noticed BIG changes on Localism- completely different format. Maybe I should check it more often, but when did the Q&A replace the top neighbor? Please go to the hospital right now and ask him for me before I march down to the hospital myself, OK?

10/11/2008 03:42 PM by Options Realty

Wow, this story is really starting to get intense, hopefully someone will soon solve the missing blogs case...i think it was done by Bob Stewart in the library with the candlestick.

I'm glad a lot of people found this amusing......... and I suppose I did *after* I read it, but it was a panic mode and couldn't focus for reading so fast worried about Rich before I discovered it was a joke.

Love ya, RICH !!! Glad you're ok!

Jorgen...

WOW!  Bongo's are a bit 60ish for an AR techie, aren't they?  OK, to ease the pain how about comping everyone who responds to this post a thousand points.  Yes, we can be bought off, apparantly pretty cheaply. By the way...here's the real story.

10/11/2008 04:12 PM by Richard Iarossi - REALTOR® Crofton MD Real Estate (Long and Foster® Real Estate, Inc.)

Well, you certainly caught  my eye with that headline . . .I was so upset until I was half-way reading it.  Oh please . . .the thoughts that were running thru my head - raid?  What is he, a cop or something?  In NY???  Wha????

I guess it is funny after all.

10/11/2008 04:22 PM by Sandy Fenton ABR, GRI ~ Mount Kisco NY ~ Condos to Luxury Homes (Keller Williams NY Realty * Licensed Associate Broker)

That title is in bad taste. I don't think it was so funny but figure it wasn't true.

10/11/2008 05:38 PM by Amanda Hall * Texas Real Estate Broker * (Hall Team Homes )

**** Happy and thankful the BLOG button has been located.

I finally found a way to get to my suscriptions after many hours of frustration first... yesterday.  Thanks for the short cut guys.

::No, Amanda, He became an instant hero when he fixed spellcheck to lull us into complacency when he first got here.  The incident I'm referring to is pre-AR.  My sources at the Colbert Report tell me it was very, very messy and involved bears.::

10/11/2008 05:56 PM by Elaine Hanson, REALTOR® ~ Topanga, CA Real Estate Specialist (Pritchett-Rapf & Assoc. Realtors, Topanga)

Jorgen -

Just checking.  Spell check is still redlining you as a deviate.

Jorden - No, that won't work either.

Jordan - No redline.  OK, change your name.  Jordan is close enough to Jorgen, anyway.

You can be Jordan, the con artist previously known as Jorgen.

@ Dan C, it's not crap! It is a running inside joke continuing from last night. I guess if you don't bother to read the link and comments from the previous post you couldn't begin to enjoy the irony of this one.

Jorgen-  Playing in the rain has sure gotten exciting since you joined.  What is the next catastrophe upgrade you have planned for us?

P.S. Don't know why you absconded with it - it can't be worth that much on the open market, without the complete AR apparatus- but I'm glad you came clean and returned the Blogs button.

10/11/2008 10:17 PM by Marilyn Katz - ABR, e-PRO - WestportCTProperties.com (Prudential Connecticut Realty)

HI JORGEN!

I was quite alarmed reading the beginning of this post, but as I neared the end to see that I had to read the other post, I felt relieved!!  Cool story though, lots of drama.

Rich and Jorgen,

Let this be a lesson to you both...don't mess with Mother Nature in the Rain or the Blog Button...

Thank you, all is right with the world again!

10/12/2008 04:25 AM by Amy Salisbury West Virginia Realtor (Leading Edge Properties)

That is hysterical.  Thanks for the laughs.  Now everyone will be able to find the blog page and start shoveling through all the dookie, again.

10/12/2008 05:44 AM by Chris Elizabeth Griffith ~ Bonita Springs Fl Real Estate (Keller Williams Elite Realty, Bonita Springs, FL)

I thought the movement of the BLOGS button was a test to see how many ActiveRain members had the ability to read more than what they were used to seeing.

Took me a while to find the "Login" thingee too.

10/12/2008 05:53 AM by Lenn Harley Homefinders.com MD & VA Real Estate

Fess up...you guys hired someone new:  A psychologist.  Somewhere he/she is going over the data complaints and thinking of writing a book entitled "Mass hysteria & the Missing Blog Button".

10/12/2008 06:37 AM by Kris Wales-Macomb County MI real estate -Ask me about buyers agency in Michigan (RE/MAX Advantage 1, Inc.)

I was wondering what happened to the execs. Guess they will re-appear safe and succesful with the blog button.

10/12/2008 06:43 AM by Michael Sahlman e-PRO - Miami Beach Florida Real Estate (www.HomesForVIPs.com - Keller Williams Realty)

It never ceases to amaze me how on Active Rain how the trivial can be magnified into the significant like with the movement of the Blog button around. I have read so many posts on this snafu. Sometimes I think technical snafus like this are deliberately generated to increase the production of blogs about the topic. It is all good again now that the blog button is back in the top header. The world is safe again : ) I think I am personally going to search for a life!! Now the Login with the microfont, maybe that's the bonus round.

10/12/2008 08:00 AM by Gary Woltal - REALTOR® Dallas Ft. Worth (Keller Williams Realty)

@C Tann-Star...  You have to understand that at the time of my comment this was a different post. After running the Hartford marthon where I had plenty of time to reflect on the fate of fallen runners whenever an emergency vehicle passed me I returned home to find the top featured post with the title illustrated in the graphic below.

I did see the comment stream with both notes of confusion and support for the joke including the one above mine noting the poor taste of the title.  Since that time the post has been renamed and the body texted edited.  This is a perfectly fine insider joke piece but as I originally said adding a Feature Star is a bit of BULL...

@Rich... Yes I was serious and see that you didn't feature the next segment, yet.

@Brad... I'm always in control of my fingers and won't respond to the "clickie" comments  :-)

10/12/2008 09:26 AM by Dan Cummings - Connecticut's Running Realtor (Raveis Real Estate)

This is exactly how rumors get started!  Glad the blog button is back.  KM

10/12/2008 09:35 AM by Kristin Moran ~ San Antonio, Texas ~ Real Estate (RE/MAX Access )

Hi Dan.  Sorry that Jorgen took our blog button and then wrote this post that had you worried about Rich.

10/12/2008 09:47 AM by Amanda Hall * Texas Real Estate Broker * (Hall Team Homes )

Hi Amanda...  Nothing for you to be sorry about. It was short lived concern after moving beyond the title. I knew the blog button disappeared but apparently missed all the drama it caused.

10/12/2008 10:14 AM by Dan Cummings - Connecticut's Running Realtor (Raveis Real Estate)

LOL. Very cute. I think I'm going with the dementia belief...unless of course, someone can confirm the attendance of Matthew McConaughey. <:P
