If you're a regular reader of my blog, you know music is one of my passions. I've written before about two of my favorites - Little Featand Paul Thorn. Just the other day I heard a singer on XM CrossCountry who knocked me on my ear. Her name is Laura Vecchione.
The song I heard that day was Fly On Flag Boy from her new CD Girl In The Band. It's bluesy, gritty, funky and just plain great. Check her out. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Tommy - Yeah, she knocked me out. I'm glad you liked her, too.
Susie - Isn't she something? We've been corresponding via email and she sent me this last night:
"I'm so glad you like "Fly Home Flag Boy," and are promoting it. It was inspired by the Mardi Gras Indian tradition of New Orleans and proceeds of all digital downloads of that song and my cover of "Indian Red," are going to benefit Sweet Home New Orleans, "
I'm sure she'd be thrilled if you embedded the video on your site.
Donna - Laura is amazing. I've been lucky enough to develop an "e friendship" with her. She's a very nice woman as well as an extremely talented singer.
Russel - You've got about twice as many as me! Laura will be doing a west coast swing next year and I look forward to seeing her perform. Hope you can make it to the Coach House on 11/8 or the Belly Up 11/10 to see Little Feat.
Tom When you hear a great musician or group everything justs goes quiet and all you hear is how tight they are. Sincerely Tom BRaatz
