Well, here we go again. It's a Monday and the Jags didn't come through for me, even after two beers in theirr honor. I'm not really that big of a drinker, but I figure it's one of the rights we enjoy as Americans: to watch Pro Football on Sundays, root for our favorite teams and consume a reasonable amount of hops and malt. No, it wasn't Beechwood Aged. It was actually Oktoberfest by Sam Adams.
I'm really pleased that the Redskins are 4-1 to start this year out, behind the Giants, which, ironically enough, are coached by Tom Coughlin who couldn't quite seem to equal the accomplishment of his second year with the team in Jacksonville (getting us to the AFC championship) before leaving to the Giants and taking them all the way. I knew you had it in you, Tommy boy!
I feel like I earned the couple beers because I mowed the lawn before watching football for most the rest of the day on Sunday, being as the Jaguars didn't play until after 8 pm. My wife says that drinking beer after working out defeats the purpose of working out. I feel like the extra protein in the hops and barley helps to feed my starving muscles and actually helps to support muscle growth. It's not working. I think she's right. I should stick to water.
I showed houses on Saturday to a couple from Palm Coast. They want to move up to Jacksonville because they feel like Jacksonville is more stable than a lot of places in Florida. I agree. Our housing prices didn't run up out of control like other areas in the state and around the country, so when everything started crashing, we didn't have as far to come down. We lost value, don't get me wrong, but Jacksonville still represents a good investment. We saw a beautiful house in Orange Park with a pool. Just over $200k and minutes from Doctors Lake and in a nice quiet neighborhood on a cul-de-sac and move in ready. The wife really liked it, but the husband wasn't quite sure. That's a switch. Usually you have to pay close attention to the wife because she's the one that has definite ideas about what the house should look like and the husband is like "whatever; as long as she likes it and I can fit my boat in the yard".
That brings me to another subject: Home Owner Associations. Some are Nazi-esque and others are laid back. Some of my buyers have been adamant about not wanting to be in a development with an asociation because of bad expereinces. We'll have to talk about this some more....
