Today is a big day, I've got an incredible plan that will revolutionize the way real estate is done!

First, I fired my broker, it was a great experience!   Imagine the shock on his face, oh it was sweet!  Then I abolished NAR.  Our receptionist is history, along with our admin specialists & office manager, they're toast!

The face of real estate is about to change.  People will now be able to sell their homes in a better way.  More money will find it's way into the sellers pocket and the Realtor's too.  It's about time we take from the rich brokers and give all that money to the poor Realtor, RIGHT?

This has been tried in many ways before but my plan will bring about change.  Law suits and hardships have been abundant, lives have been jeopardized even lost but that's ok.  The tried and true methods of real estate had their flaws so I have a plan for change!

Whether or not there has been a good experience for buyers and sellers is not nearly as important as the benefits received.  Safety and security is of no concern, it simply does not go along with my plan, we need change!  Get rid of your lockboxes and suprakeys!!!  Yippee!

Now I have experience in real estate, I've listed & sold homes, closed transactions for  folks.  That gives me credibility to be able to institute this great plan to change the way real estate is bought and sold in this country...IT'S REVOLUTIONARY!!!

Sound familiar???

Nuts, Crazy, The Twilight Zone, Bizarre, did any of those words cross your mind?  They cross mine every day!

Every established system has its pros & cons, however most have been established through trial and error and a tremendous amount of knowledge & experience.  Real estate practices may not always be within your comfort zone but they are designed basically for the good of all.

So what's my point?  Plans for "CHANGE" sound really good but if they are not established on a solid foundation from absolutely credible sources then they will absolutely destroy lives, corruption and chaos will ensue.

My greatest concerns for America come November 4th!

Will our men & women in uniform who have fought for freedom, lost their lives, shed their blood, be forced to abandon their goal because of a timeline?

Will terrorists view an incomplete, retreating army as weak thereby bringing terrorism to our great land again?

Does a Robinhood mentality cause economies to flourish or fall?

Consider seriously this supposed plan to "CHANGE".   There are far too many lives at stake to even consider this twilight zone prospect.

As a United States Air Force Veteran and as someone who lived through 911 while living in NY, I implore you to revisit all that is facing America today and reconsider your position before you vote.  Stop listening and being swayed by the fluff of inexperience and ridiculous "Change".   Your life and the lives of your loved ones depend on it!

This is the first post of yours that I have ever read, and I like your style. First of all, thank you for serving our country. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart!

Sara ~ Well written, I love your humor and spunk. Love that horse too!

Change for the sake of change is not change at all, its stupid. But I will leave that for another post.

You nailed it and everyone else will get it before the election.  The "let's just try something else, anything else" idea is a bad one.  Ronald Reagan won in a landslide after a tight race right up to election day.

Sara, Have you mounted a Cavalry, and where do I sign-up.  I do think that we as Realtors need to change our cheerleading uniforms now that Fannie and Freddie have been expelled.  Property is a commoditynot a savings account and as such our industry needs to clean-up and demand a cabinet post!

Scott,  I have been so impassioned with this whole thing, I actually came into the office the other day and sat down with my manager where everyone could hear and went on a pseudo rant which made her look like a deer in the headlights until she figured out where I was coming from.  It was actually quite funny but she quickly got the picture!

Susan,  Yes I have read quite a few of your blogs and knew where you stand.  Carter nearly destroyed this country in a much less dangerous time.  We almost starved to death in the military...that was the era that I served in.  Ronald Reagan realized the need for a strong viable military and did a stellar job at restoring it to its strength and viability.

You are 100% correct about Obama, he is so dangerous.

I appreciate how you wrote this and I can only hope you can get through to some of the undecided people out there. So many deceiving messages out there that could sway people to vote for hype. Hi Sara,

Thank you for this post - and especially for your service!

You are right - this is the most consequential we have ever faced.

We get to 'live like 9/11 never happened,' because we/our goverment prevented subsequent attacks.

We will get change on Nov 4th because neither Obama nor McCain is George Bush.  Anyone who fails to see this, just hasn't been paying attention (McCain has often been a BIG THORN in Bush's side, making the administration adjust to McCain's insights)   McCain has impacted positive change.

Obama's record on taxes does not match his rhetoric.  His rhetoric is often non-sensical - how do you give a tax break to 95% of the people when 40% of us don't pay fed income tax due to standard deduction, and earned income tax credit?

Come on folks, let's think and ask questions.

Take care,   Laurie

One thing's for sure, a nation full of poor and homeless people is definitely a recipe for disaster.  Can you imagine going away to fight in a war, and coming back to a country with a broken economy? A real hard pill to swallow indeed.

Sara---

This country does need change.   Regardless if it comes in the form of Obama or McCain, or a Republican or Democratic Congress.

The new President and Congress will face 2 wars, $12 trillion of debt, staggering unemployment numbers, consumer confidence at 16-year lows, and a country on the brink of depression.

The country is concerned with one thing today....the economy.   Their lives and the lives of their loved ones depend on this economy.

The Iraq timeline has already been set by the Iraqis and Bush.   It's a non-issue to most Americans.

In my opinion, the reason why Obama, who is inexperienced, has such a commanding lead in the polls and seems to be on the verge of an electoral blowout is because he stays focused on message.   McCain, whom I voted for in 2000, is focusing on Obama.

In Nevada, where I live, which is a "toss-up" state, we see TV ads everyday.

90% of Obama's ads are him talking into a camera telling us what he will do as President.  90% of McCain's are video of Obama telling is why we shouldn't vote for Obama.  I am sure you get the same ads in Florida.

If I had my choice, I wouldn't vote for either of these guys.   But when forced to choose on November 4th I am going to vote for the one who seems focused on the economy first.

McCain's time is running out.  He has 2 more debates, and 4 weeks, to convince us he gets it.

We certainly don't need a weakened military! It's a dangerous world out there! Excellent post.

Change is good at times but not in the instances you mentioned. Retreat is always seen as defeat by our enemies. We must win in our respective positions militarily around the world. The party that is proposing this is also the same party that didn't help fund the troops. Your vote in September will be extremely important. Don't forget to register for those who are doing so for the first time.

Then again, they say that the definition of "crazy" is doing the same thing the same way over and over again.  "Change" isn't a problem when it is needed.  Even McCain claims he is for "change."  Regardless who you vote for in this election, it will be "change."  I will therefore embrace "change" and make sure it is the kind of change I want to see in this country.

10/05/2008 08:15 AM by Melanie Dawn

Great post. I served when we ousted Noriega and forward the front lines in Saudi during Desert Storm. Yes there was blood shed to help those that hate us Americans, and yet, we are so complacent and ignorant; we are still paying others to kill us and our American ideals. Let us not forget the media circus and the "only" news "they" feel will boost their ratings.

Hmmmm.....change from what? Let us subsidize more housing, by dagnabit, close down the facilities incarcerating those being held for terrorism! THEY HAVE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS!!! Huh? Ok, place them in those subsidized homes and let them invite their friends, ALL are welcome here in America. Come and receive FREE education, FREE healthcare, FREE SSI and welfare, FREE, FREE, FREE...FREE reign in our Great Nation. No pre-conditions, no worries, practice your religion, but do not mention God or wear a Christian symbol in a public place; and you can even burn our flag and refuse to say the Pledge of Allegiance, we are about "Change".

Come one, come all!!! Use OPM to start your business, buy a home, maximize, diversify, purchase limos, vacation homes, take your friends on that private jet of yours to exotic places; write it off as an expense. Oooops...I spent too much of the stockholders money and homeowners are foreclosing. Where is the money? I want to kep "MY" luxuries, help me Uncle Sam!!! How can the taxpayers help me keep my material belongings? Ahhh...give me a blank check from the US Treasury, "Trust Me", help me to "Change".

Tax breaks, headaches, Section 8, butt-aches from inflation, fairness, subsidies, welfare, more government, more "Change"? By golly, does anyone remember the Boston Tea Party? Oh, but I am supposed to be "Patriotic" and pay more taxes? Was I not patriotic enough for the deeds done and time served? I ask for nothing in return, and my wife is an immigrant and asks for nothing. We did not receive handouts or feel entitled to receive any. We know and understand that the only entitlement we have in our country is our civic duty to VOTE.

What happened to "our" America? Wealth, home-ownership,business, capitalism, free-trade, security, family values, freedom of religion, freedom alone was created by hard work. We as REALTORS know that, our business was created by hard work.

I like how America was created, no hand-outs, no entitlements, but hard work. The only "Change" we need in America is reform and accountability, not false hope and rhetoric. Just my weekly rant, or maybe just Straight Talk.

Thanks Sarah.

Herb- How old are you? DO you know any Latvians, Estonians, Lithuanians? The statement you made about Ronald Reagan is very ignorant and a slap in my heritage's face. I am first generation born American. My family fled Latvia with Stalin's killing rampage. FDR gave our country in a chess move to Stalin. Reagan freed our country. Our country, Latvia was the first country to regain their independence because of Reagan. There are photos of Reagan all over Latvia. We thank Reagan every day for the freedom he helped us get and the fall of the Iron curtain. History has already proved he was one of the greatest presidents to ever live.Katerina
