8 Comments on Global financial markets melt down, NASCAR, Caribbean rum hardest hit”

Politicians, all of them, are such egomaniacs.  The public makes me laugh when they think that the candidates are for the people.  They are for themselves and money - that is it.  You just confirmed it.

This is how such ridiculous laws get passed.  It is sad comment that when we are in crisis they are putting their personal agenda before the country!

Unbelievable!  Credits on electric cars and alt fuels are probably good ideas but do they really need to be attached to this bill?  The earmarks make me want to puke.

On the Neil Boortz show he made a prediction this morning.  McCain votes for this bill ... and the election is over.  This bill is still crap!  I'm calling my senators

Thanks for your comments - it is so amazing they just can't stick to what's necessary and leave the rest until another day. My personal favorite is the wooden arrows for children.... I know I can't live without that being funded. Seriously, you can't make this crap up...

Bob - judging from the pols, McCain looks pretty much done anyway. I suppose their is still time left, but it's not looking good.

I guess we are all going to need some rum if the financial market collapses.

Amanda - I'm with you!

Now about those wooden arrows:

Excise Tax Exemption for Wooden Practice Arrows Used by Children. Current law imposes an excise tax of 39 cents, adjusted for inflation, on the first sale by the manufacturer, producer, or importer of any shaft of a type used to produce certain types of arrows. This proposal would exempt from the excise tax any shaft consisting of all natural wood with no laminations or artificial means to enhance the spine of the shaft used in the manufacture of an arrow that measures 5/16 of an inch or less and is unsuited for use with a bow with a peak draw weight of 30 pounds or more. The proposal is effective for shafts first sold after the date of enactment. The estimated cost of the proposal is $2 million over ten years.

Do ya think someone has too much time on their hands??/
