I love a creative idea. Especially when it has something to do with decorating a room in the house.

Some of the best ideas are not expensive. Even if they don't cost much they do require your time an patience.

I wanted to share with you a truly creative basement room that was created on creme painted walls and $10 worth of Sharpies and Magic Markers.

The effect is rich and a work of art. This amazing decor by Charlie Kratzer of Lexington was featured in the The Lexington Herald Leader.

Oh my goodness, this was fascinating! I totally enjoyed the 360 degree tour, particularly the way in which depth of perspective was used in the drawings. This artist turned his home into a canvas.

Lizette--And I tried to keep the Sharpies out of my kids hands and off my walls! BTW--You should see what kids do to their shoes, backpacks and other things at school with their various colors of Sharpie markers. (NOT mine but I hear it is a popular trend! )My kids couldn't bring their colored Sharpies into middle school as the cool color pens always seemed to disappear...Popular with the teen crowd which seems to be full of budding graphic artists with a love for the unique colors! :)

Jen-I would like to do it too. I afraid I might pick some intricate design and it take forever to complete.

A true talent and great until he sells the house. For staging, I would probably paint over, but take tons of photos first.

OH MY!!! I LOVE this! I stenciled and hand painted a few special words I chose for a "girly room" once. They were above a chair rail, and looked fine, all in black, but this is wonderful! I am going to the link to check it out. I wonder what the artist did about little messy spots, since Sharpie is not very forgiving?

Cheryl - I share your enthusiasm for a project like this. Maybe for his "mistakes" he kept a can of Kilz paint handy. Then touch up w/ wall color. I love the whole room.
