hydrangeaTriplets! If you need a substantial flower arrangement for a big table, do it in triplicate. This is also the perfect time of the year to pick the last of the hydrangeas. Don't worry if they are a little faded, it just adds to the autumnal look; And if you wrap the stems in a wet paper towel, then put it in a plastic bag they will dry slowly and last forever.

The beauty of fresh with the longevity of silk...the perfect flower arrangement for Staging! Or just life in general.

And oh BTW, I got the vases at Goodwill for a song.

Susan -- these are GORGEOUS! Makes an impressive centerpiece. I'm very glad to know your secret for preserving hydrangeas and will try it out tomorrow on a few of my own that are just starting to fade. Those vases are perfect -- another great tip to check out Goodwill. Thanks for always sharing such great ideas with us!

Susan:  Very attractive.  I like the idea of three-somes.  An interior designer once told me to decorate accessories in groups of three, not two.  The flowers are gorgeous.  Hydrangeas were plentiful where I was raised in PA.  I live in Texas now and our weather is not very favorable for this plant.  BTW - Your pups are adorable!

Maureen: For some reason the Goodwill in Renton is better than the Goodwill in Seattle.

Karen: Actually just about any flower or foliage works. Sunflowers look really good too. Thanks for stopping by.

Gorgeous, I love threes...and you always have the great tips for the flowers...these are breathtaking and will last forever.  That's the part I like.  Thanks for the tips.

I am so jealous of your obvious skills. That looks great, very classy. A great tip too. Thanks

Susan, Beautiful look and impact without big dollars!! Thanks for sharing. (love your title & answer - too cute!)

Great idea and it looks fabulous - sometimes using three of something looks and works better then using one!

Super-cute and a great idea!  I've had a hydrangea bush for 10 years, and it's never bloomed once for me.  I'm obviously doing something wrong!

09/29/2008 07:54 AM by Marianne Sweet, Home Sweet Home Staging, LLC Rochester Hills, MI (Home Sweet Home Staging)

WOW! Just georgeous! Three's and Five's - odd numbers always work best - in most cases.

Susan ~ I love looking at my hydrangea's at this time of year.  I love the vases you found at Goodwill, and the set-up you did on that table looks great.

09/29/2008 08:44 AM by Kathy Passarette, L.I. Staging/Decorating (Creative Home Expressions)

Susan - looks wonderful! Love those colors. Thanks for the tip on preserving the flowrs.

Terrylynn: The longevity is my favorite part!

Ellie:Thanks. This is super-easy.

Michelle: The price is right too. 3 vases= $9 and flowers = $0.

Sandra:They definitely fill out a long space better.

How beautiful! Incredible center piece! Staging seems to be a gift, but then comes a simple idea like this one that makes you think that you can do this too.

I love it! The vases are nothing special on their own but you made a wonderful arrangement.  Together the three of them with the flowers look great.  Also thanks for the tip on how to preserve the flowers.

Marianne: It sounds like you soil is either too aid or too alkaline. Either way it's a pretty easy fix.

Magi: Especially in a long  rectangular space.

Kathy: Thanks! Mine are still going gang-busters.

Tayna: I'm glad you like it; and thanks for your invite to Linkedin.

Rosland: You can do it!

Vicki: You're more than welcome!

The colors of the vases, walls and flowers are just beautiful-so warm and inviting. Makes me want to move right in!

Terry, I love triplets as well. I notice that the Today show does triplets on the coffee table on their set! I love the use of color.

Beautiful!  I love hydrangeas and have three huge bushes in my backyard that I am forever taking clippings from.  Thank you for sharing.

Susan, I love this look; it's really beautiful! And hydrangeas are my favorite! I have a couple of arrangements of them in my house right now from my yard. Thanks for the advice on how to make them last.

In landscaping we're taught that if you can't do it symmetrically, then use groups of odd numbers. For example, at the front entrance we might put a large flower pot on each side of the doorway. Get away from that doorway, though, and we'll place odd-number groupings. I took that landscaping experience and applied it to the house interior where, as you have noted, it works just as well.

Susan, love the color of the vases and the hydrangeas are beautiful. I'm a big believer in shopping at Goodwill stores, you never know what you'll find and we have two really good stores locally.

Beautiful photo!  I love triplets (that's what I am going to call them from now on!) When I buy accessories, like vases, I always buy three when I can and I often use three matching items in my stagings.

Thanks for the great tip -- I too have some beautiful hydrangeas in the yard and will give it a try!  Beautiful photo!

Cathy Lee: I'd need to move out first. I have to confess, this is my own dining room.

Marci: Hey, if it's good enough for The Today Show it's good enough for me.

Tracy: I have 3 huge bushes too and I'm still planting more.

Anne:That's what makes them so good for staging.

Jim: I'll have to remember that! It makes sense.

10/02/2008 11:17 PM by Susan Peters - Seattle Realtor/Staging Specialist (Re/Max Mutual Realty)

These are great and I love the hydrangeas.  I  also thank you for the tip about the paper towel in the plastic bag. In a vacant house I worry that dropped leaves would leave the table looking messy. I wish we could do the same with sunflowers but they wilt so easily.

THe old motto that three's a crowd does not apply  here, great job!

Susan, I sure wish my hydrangeas had survived this year. It has been too dry and we haven't had rain in forever. Love this look on the table.

10/03/2008 11:09 AM by Lizette Fitzpatrick, Lexington KY Real Estate (Central Kentucky - Prudential Don Foster - Richmond KY)

Susan,

This center piece or pieces I should say...are just gorgeous!  What a great way to end the season with these beautiful Hydrangeas.  By the way... out of curiosity, which song did you sing at Goodwill for those vases? ;)

10/03/2008 12:50 PM by Michelle Pimentel ASP, IAHSP Empire Home Staging (Empire Home Staging Solutions)

Very pretty, Susan. Just stopped by to take a look and say hello. In the case of Goodwill, one families discard is indeed another's treasure. The Goodwill Stores also provide hope and employment to many of our disabled. You did two great things. You supported a magnificent charity, and you created a beautiful setting. The vases look great. Hope you have a great weekend.

10/03/2008 12:55 PM by David Saks - Real Estate Broker (The Real Estate Mart of Tennessee, Inc.)

Susan, I love your triplets!  I may try them for my next dinner party - where it's nice to have low heights.

10/03/2008 05:44 PM by Patricia Kennedy (Evers & Company)

Debbie: St. Vincent de paul is another favorite.

Lisa: I like your triplets too!

Kathy: Hydrangeas really lend themselves to the Frech Country look.

Karen: Now if we can just make the buyers melt!

Margaret: Thanks. I took it with my IPhone.

10/05/2008 02:50 AM by Susan Peters - Seattle Realtor/Staging Specialist (Re/Max Mutual Realty)

Definitely when staging, triplets are better than twins!! Thank you for sharing the beautiful centerpiece photo and drying tip for hydrangeas. The Goodwill is one of my favorite places to find vases - and if you're lucky, colored glass vases for color blocking.

Phyllis: I know, I love sunflowers too. They also photograph really well.

Lizette: I wish I could send you some. I have tons!

Michelle: I don't remember but I was doing my Happy Dance when I found them!

Davis: Thanks for stopping by and well said!

Patricia: You can cut them short and put them in shallower vases too.

Lisa: Okay, I've got to ask "What is color blocking?"

Three is perfect balance too! Thanks for the tips and the fresh flowers to start my day! Thanks for sharing and greetings from Paradise.
