Without fail, if we're in town, Laura and I head to Old Town Temeculaevery Saturday for the Farmers Market. I mistakenly thought it was just a summer event. Much to my delight I have found out it happens year 'round. Our last visit we brought home fresh baked bread, passionfruit, eggplant, peaches, kettle corn and more. I love the smells and colors and really enjoy watching people interact with the vendors and with each other. I know what I'll be doing tomorrow morning!
Thanks for the reminder. Can you believe I have yet to visit the Temecula Farmer's Market even though I have heard many wonderful things about it. Like great prices on cut flowers which is one of my quilty pleasures....and lots of fresh fresh fruits and veggies!
I can't make it tomorrow but I am putting it on my calendar for next week! :)
I love farmer's markets too, in fact, I used to have a two acre organic garden and used to sell produce, herbs and flowers at the farmer's market every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I loved it...intereacting with all of the customers was the best part next to rising at 4 am each morning to pick vegetables and flowers so that they would be absolutely fresh. It was a wonderful lifestyle and I miss it to this day...
beautiful pictures....now you've made me hungry for some fresh picked grapes and corn.
Hi Tom, visiting the Farmer's Market sounds fun. I love Farmer's Markets too -- watching, listening and smelling all of the wonderful fruit, vegetables, plants and flowers. :) Then, going home and preparing dinner using all those fresh veggies and fruit! :) Yummy!!!
Tom: Congrats on the Localism Featured! Beautiful pictures and looks like there are some lively folks around there. We have our Farmer's Market in Blue Ridge going now and it's a big hit.
Having been to temecula many times i expected a post about pachengas (hope i spelled it right) the indian casino that draws so many people to Temecula, but i never thought i would have seen a farmer's market post. Temecula for those that don't know is in california and practically in noman's land (as compared to the megalopolis that is the L.A basin valley. I always knew Temecula would continue to grow as it's a great place to find a reosonably priced luxury home (as compared to the rest of socal (relatively speaking).
Great that you enjoy that every week! Here in Medford, Ma we just started a farmers market every Thursday for the summer, although we dont grow much in the city, the surrounding towns help and bring the fresh crops to us. Thanks for sharing with us.
Tom, what a great post...I'm heading to the Farmer's Market here in Redding this AM. I love it...it's my favorite thing to do. Great work! Congrats on the feature!
Great Photos. I love farmers market but I've never been to one in Temecula. Next time I visit my son in Fallbrook, I will insist on going to one. He showed us the wine country and the casinos. I love Temecula. My son wants me to move to that part of the country. He works for Zales in Temecula Shopping Center.
Hey Tom.... I have a client living (and working in Temecula) John Kardum ... A Real Estate Bfroker. Do you know him?? Hey . . Hows the market in your neck of the woods? Here in Hawaii, the Buyers are sitting on the fence waiting for more drastic price reduc tions from Sellers. It's a battle of wills at this point.
It is wonderful to have local markets with all of the wonderful fresh produce! I am just hungry looking at the pictures. Enjoy this wonderful time of year and the harvest.
Giving back to our local farmers and meeting them face to face, knowing the hard work and sweat that goes into the products we buy, makes the farmers markets a great experience. Not to mention the homegrown goodies you can't find anywhere else
Aloha Tom...I have to agree with you and many of your commentors (Is that a real word? Or did I just make it up?) "nothing is cooler than a farmers market", In my town (Hilo Hawaii) we are blessed to have farmers markets 3 days a week! Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday... reglarly I get to enjoy Lychee, mango, durians, wite pineapples, Tahitian limes, etc... but you know what I really really want? A fresh peach....I would just about sell my husbands soul (only one left as I sold mine for chocolate a few years back) for a true peach...yummmy...and that corn looked awful good as well...lucky you, enjoy!
Yummy pictures...makes me want to hop a plane :-). That pretty lady with the blue hair sure looks familiar. Hope all is well, I finally got a post of Austin gathering put up. Never did figure out how to do this new slide show program I upgraded to, so just a few pictures.
I haven't given up, just very frustrated and had to give my brain a "slide show break".
Tom
There is nothing cooler than a farmers market.
Sincerely
Tom Braatz (past farmer)
