I'm going to take a break from talking real estate for a moment and talk memories and good ole fashioned fun.
I grew up in Overland Park just a few minutes drive south of Antioch Park located just south of Shawnee Misison Parkway on Antioch in Merriam, Kansas. My mom and dad would take us kids there. It had this huge lake (doesn't seem quite so huge to me now...) and plenty of things to climb on. I distinctly remember this metal rocket-ship that was about 15-18 feet high. Somewhere around the 8 foot level the bars were just wide enough for a small boy to slip through and jump. Great fun. I'm sure that's why the lawyers made them get rid of it!!!
The park underwent a major renovation a couple years back. And it is better than ever. Beautiful trees and flowers and landscaping. Natural areas. A clean lake well stocked with fish...or so the people fishing there claimed. Picnic tables abound as does open green space for kicking the soccer ball, flying the Frisbee or j
ust playing catch with the football. And a playground that 6 year old's dream of. Swings, rock climbing wall, slides, poles to climb on. And Old Dodge Town overlooks the playground so that when Junior is tired of sliding he can run up and pretend he was part of the shootout at the OK Corral.
Grab some chicken. Ice down some sodas. Head on out this spring or summer. Get back to just spending time outside with yourself or your loved ones. We had a great time today.

Hey Chris,
I loved your post and I absolutely love parks. What a great get-away in your own backyard. As a single mom with young kids, (long ago) we spent many late afternoons with a bucket of chicken in the park ourselves.
You made this park sound so special, no doubt you've had your share of memories too.
