I had a call this past week from a Well Farge Loan Officer regarding a past post I had written about short sales. He called on a reference about a company we had worked with and we had a good conversation about the mortgage industry, short sales and the process the banks go through in processing short sales.

We shared horror stories and I enjoyed the conversation and felt that it was beneficial in helping me see the world from the bank's perspective. He shared that when they first began a little over a year ago they were completely inundated with not enough personnel to handle the load. Since then they have staffed up. I forget the number he used but it was impressive. I don't want to mis-quote him and so we will use "impressive" to quantify the number. He also said they are working hard to help consumers and to approved short sales in a timely manner.

I've beeen wanting to write a post about Citi Mortgage. I believe that they may have gone through the same type of "gearing up" and are now cooperating and approving short sales. I am about to close a short sale with them and they were wonderful to work with and approved a 6% commission. I have written other posts about Citi Mortage and how hard and impossible they were to work with. It's important to keep the record going and to acknowledge the changes that are occuring.

I just got a short sale with Wells Fargo....strange how things evolve and I look forward to working with Citi Mortgage going forward. I have mentioned that it will be these banks that we as consumers choose to work with and do business in the future. It's helping the real estate industry recover and it makes sound business sense.

I am Jeanean Gendron and you can reach me at 530 276-7417. I answer my phone.

13 Comments on Conversation with a Well Fargo Loan Offer! Update on Citi Mortgage Short Sales!

Perfect timing, I am doing a pre-listing appointment on Monday that needs to sell short. The first loan is with Wells and the second with Citi. I had no success with Citi the second time, they kept loosing the authorization form and never sent the loss mitigation forms, althrough they said they did.

Missy, I was shocked at well this all went with Citi Morgtage. We even got 6% without asking. I always send it with 6% but seldom get it. Wishing same for you!

Guess the banks are finally beginning to realize -- some money for the property is better than no money. ~ Evelyn

That's good to know they have beefed up their staff. Now we just need to speed up the process.

Jeanean, I just got one approved with Wells Fargo this week. I have a great contact for a negotiator with them if it is a freddiemac loan. She even told me last night when she called me, yes a loss mit negotiator called me, to let her know anytime I get a Wells Fargo short and she will help me out!!! I've had several very good negotiators lately.

Jeanean, I've worked with Wells Fargo too and have found them to be good to work with.  I think like anything that the kinks have to be worked out and things can begin to work smoothly. And you're right it only makes sense to work well the Lenders.

Missy, glad this is good news for you specifically.....it's really good news for the industry. CountryWide, GMAC and Bank of America are the hold outs. Perhaps they will come around also. Let's hope.

Michael, it is good new for the industry and for those of us who dig in and do the short sales.

Evelyn, I'm not sure of any perspective of the banks other than the bottom line. It's all business for them and some do better than others.

Pippa, thanks for the read and commenting.

Bryant, funny.....but I just got one with Wells Fargo and I hoping it will go well also. The one I just did with Citi Mortgage was a piece of cake and went so smooth. They were a complete pleasure to deal with. You can tell they are swamped.....but with the correct message left, I usually gat a return phone call. Thanks for coming in on this.

Lynn, thanks for the confirmation.....hopefully we will all be able to get more done. Thanks for the read and the comment.
