With every post - every blog - we have the potential to touch another human being.  We craft our words - to inform, share, question, understand, inspire, uplift, and even to vent.

Here we have the opportunity to arouse patterns of thought that might otherwise have lain dormant.  As we reach out to other bloggers, readers, realtors, clients, and friends we have the power to move, the power to shift and change another's perspective. To both see things and present them in a way that maybe wasn't possible before.

The pleasure we derive from the written word is unique in that we must labor for it.  It's not like watching tv, or listening to music which for the most part evokes only an emotional response.  It's not like playing a video or computer game - although that provides a stimulus of sorts.

Reading and writing isn't passive - it actually requires an investment of emotion, as well as concentration and imagination.  There's a type of vulnerability that it exposes...thats both challenging and freeing, scary and exciting.  We learn something about others and perhaps what even more important...we learn about  ourselves.  The words we read...the words we write.... are where it all begins...

Its strange to me how this process of blogging....of writing, helps us to unravel and unfold...allows us to reveal and share concepts and ideas from within.  Sometimes it happens without even knowing.  This transformation.....that stretches us.  It can be comforting and relaxing, stimulating and irritating....frustrating and inspiring.

Sometimes pulling up a chair, hot cup of coffee in hand and perusing different blogs can be relaxing and it can be fun to immerse ourselves in both the familiar and the new.  That is one of the exciting aspects - the variety.......the unlimited choice.....the perspectives.  Sometimes it helps us to remove ourselves from the stresses and pressures of the day - other times it provides us with the stimulus and provocation necessary to take the next step. And perhaps one of the greatest gifts it gives us is the opportunity for friendship - and connection.

This the blogging experience...can awaken empathy....trigger a memory...revive a passion........  Really with the information available we can create a whole new landscape in our mind's eye.  The blogs we read and the blogs we write can provide us with the inspiration we need to replenish our own creative reserves.  It can inspire us to use our imagination and create something unique and meanful.

I know it has for me..:-)

Liz,

It is an interesting process. Sometimes I hit, people like what I write. Other times there is little interest. Sometimes I see it coming, other times what they like surprises me.

Steven - you're right there are lots of surprises - and i'm not sure the comments are necessarily an accurate reflection...

Blogging is a great freedom, you can give your two cents and everyone who wants to reply must at least read it... The only issue I have with this system we are using is that I have blogs here, there, and everywhere. I wish there was a better way to bring them all together. If I could write one blog and have it post here, on my website, on my company site, and a few other places that would be good technology...

09/05/2008 01:37 AM by Richard Foster, RRG, CREN, ABR, ABRM (Elite Realty)

Blogging, which i refer more to posting since it's the form of placing text in a social network online that others can comment on or vice versa, is a great way to meet new people of similar goals and aspirations. It's with these connections that business relations are created. We hope to work with our Canadian friend to broker some deals overseas in the Carribean. We're just waiting for a client. (*Cough*)

Liz- I really like the sentiment of this post.  There are many 'real' people here on AR.  I don't bother pretending to be something other than myself.

Hi Liz... when you can open people's minds to consider new perspectives and ideas, you also the opportunity for dialogues, friendships and relationships that might never otherwise have taken place.  And those are things in our society that we need more of.  Thanks for sharing this post... it's definitely got me thinking I am glad I connected with you here on AR! :)

09/06/2008 12:28 PM by Steve Shatsky - Dallas Real Estate & Short Sale Specialist (Keller Williams-Dallas City Center)

Kathy - its true though isn't it......special like everyone else - seems to take away the uniqueness of being 'special'.......just the nature of the definitions and terminology that we use...but is a christian principle....all special in our own way....i'm thinking...

Melody - I agree with you - there are what i believe to be many 'real' people on here.....i understand that when we write from our hearts or express ourselves in a blog - it may not always be the way we chose to express ourselves in other settings, nevertheless it is a part of us ....and we are many faceted human beings...

Liz,

Great post and you write beautifully.  Before I started blogging, my writings were focused on gardening.  I have written several articles on rose gardening and I enjoyed doing them but now I'm glad I can add new dimension to my writings.
