St Charles County Area Attractions

Just a short drive along Highway 70 west from the St. Louis Arch you will come to St Charles County Missouri.  As a matter of fact it is just across the Missouri River.  Here you will find numerous things to do from walking down the cobblestone Main Street in St Charles and enjoying nostalgia in every step to wonderful restaurants to wineries to micro breweries with their different beers and food and so much more.  It is not just about St Charles but we have so many more things to do in St Charles County.  Below are just a few of the things to do and enjoy while you are here.  Don't just stop at the Arch and go on your way take a short drive to St Charles County and enjoy more of the flavor of what Missouri has to offer.

Frenchtown Heritage Museum

This museum focuses on this mostly residential district that contains 48 notable structures.  Open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 12pm to 3pm or by appointment.

Haviland Museum

625 S. Main Street

St. Charles, MO

Located in the historic Newbill-McElhiney House, this museum has nearly one thousand pieces of exceptional Haviland China on display.

Katy Trail State Park

From The St. Charles Riverfront along

The Missouri River front to the

The Katy Trail is a 225 mile bike trail with 6 trailheads in St. Charles County.  The trail follows the track bed of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) Railroad (better known as Katy).  Most of the trail parallels the northern bank of the Missouri River.  165 miles of the trail has been designated an official segment of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail.

This new home of the Discovery Expedition of St. Charles is home base for their replica keelboat and pirogues.  The upper level of this certified site of the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail features a large diorama, wxhibits covering Lewis and Clark and the Missouri River ecosystem, a classroom and a gift shop.

This volunteer organization operates a WWII Memorabilia Museum and features three operational WWII aircraft.

Our Lady of the Rivers

Portage des Sioux, MO

A 25 foot high statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary erected after Portage des Sioux escaped damage from the flood of 1951.

sounds like you have no shortage of things to do right in your backyard this time of year. We just stay inside int he air conditioning. it is 111 degrees - but its a dry heat :)
