"Let there be no doubt my friends - WE are going to win this election" - the words of John McCain after praising Barack Obama's campaign.
So here I sit once again listening, watching, typing the relevant moments and I am still buzzed by Sarah Palin.
"Americans want us to stop yelling at each other," he said. "All you've ever asked is for Government to stand on your side and not in your way - and that's what I intend to do. And I've found just the right partner to help me stand up to Washington DC - Governor Sarah Palin of the Great State of Alaska."
He thanked everyone for the warm reception she received and said she deserved it. He paid great tribute to her. "She stands up for what's right and she doesn't let anyone tel her to sit down".
With a huge smile he said he was proud to have introduced her to the country and added that he couldn't wait to introduce her to Washington!!!
When he moved on to policy he talked passionately about our men and women in harms way. He said "we believe in a Government that doesn't make your choices for you but works to make sure that you have more choices to make for yourself."
He talked about taxes, markets, jobs, health care and many other issues, poiting out the major differences between his and Obama's policies.
On Education he said that Obama wants schools to answer to beaurocrats while he wants schools to answer to parents and students.
And then there was energy!
"When I'm President we're going to stop sending $700 billion a year to countries that don't like us very much. We'll tackle the problems on many fronts. We will drill off shore and elsewhere and we will drill them now!"
But he recognized that wasn't the only solution. New nuclear plants; clean coal technology, wind, solar and alternative fuels.
"We must use all resources and develop all technologies necessary. It's an ambitous plan but Americans are ambitous by nature. It's time for us to show the world again how Americans lead."
He talked about Russia and what he described as "the great people of Georgia" who he said needed our solidarity and our prayers.
He said he would work for better relations with Russia, but that we couldn't turn a blind eye to actiopns that threatened the peace of the world.
He spent time on his strengths - how he can work with the world, but how he was ready to stand up to those who didn't wish to listen.
He talked about his father and his grandfather. How he was in the car when his father was told about Pearl Harbor. He said he didn't see his father much over the next four years. he said he remembered his grandfather coming home from that same war - and how he died the next day.
He said he would have Democrats and Independents in his Administration.
He talked about his service to our nation. He included his war service and made special mention of the men he was in captivity with him and thanked them for saving his life. In fact when he talked about what happened to him in Vietnam, it brought tears to my eyes. he said he was never the same again. "I was no longer my own man - I was my country's."
"My country saved me and I cannot forget it. And I will fight for her as long as I draw breath, so help me god."
This was a speech of a Statesman. Pure and simple. A man ready to lead. A man with the experience to do so. A man of compassion, but not so much compassion that he is blind to the realities of the world and the need to keep America strong. And he talked about how the important change was that of Government in Washington.
He was not Sarah Palin, but he was still strong and powerful and clearly ready. And I am pleased to say that I am sure he will indeed by, The Next President of the United States.
