I have to say that writing these various posts about the little communities, sites and delightful scenic stops has made me fall in love with Chilliwack all over again. This year I didn't go away for a summer vacation.......but I have been checking out the 'green grass' on my side of the fence..........and I have to tell you it is looking pretty green!

Its amazing that when you view your surroundings with 'fresh' eyes......the eyes of a visitor or tourist.......or the eyes of a fellow blogger.......how your perspective changes! With camera in hand - its been one adventure after another!
This post is a little peek at the Vedder - Chilliwack River (names used interchangeably). The Vedder-Chilliwack is not two separate streams like its name suggests, but simply a name change partway up the river. A bridge crosses the river where it leaves the mountain valley and flows onto the Fraser Valley flood plain. Below the bridge the river is called the Vedder; above the bridge it is known as the Chilliwack. . No matter what you call it the river is wonderful.

Here we have 36 km of fabulous fishable water...overflowing with steelhead and salmon......a haven for hikers, kayakers, anglers and river rafters! . The lower portion of the River has been dyked and channeled, with a dyke trail from Vedder Crossing to the highway thats popular with joggers, mountain bikers and anglers. So whether you're going for an evening stroll, or a brisk walk with your dog in the morning.........whether you're fishing or rafting........this is Beautiful British Columbia at its very Best!
