Today we held the 4th annual CB Cares Golf Classic at the Reston National Golf Course. What a great day to step away from the office (even if I did have to get up at 5:30am). The annual CB Cares Golf Classic is the cornerstone event every year of the CB Cares Foundation for Coldwell Banker in the Washington Metro Area. The proceeds raised from this event go toward supporting the charitable activities and philanthropic requests of our agents and employees throughout the year. Last year a major portion of the proceeds went to the VA Tech tragedy. Even though I'm not a golfer I look forward to volunteering at the Classic every year. This year Shannon Lauterstein and I volunteered on behalf of our Leesburg office. It always turns out to be a great time. We started the day registering golfers, conducting a little bit of last minute fund raising, and then followed that up with monitoring the $25,000 Hole in One contest on the 11th hole. No winner on that one, but someone did hit the pin. The best ball event is followed up by a great lunch provided by Outback Steakhouse, awards, and prize drawings. For those that may not be aware, Outback Steakhouse is one of the most active organizations in supporting charitable events. Every year I run the Sterling Fire Department's 10k race and Outback serves up the steaks for that one too, but I digress. Thanks to all those who sponsored, golfed, donated, or volunteered to make today's event a huge success. Warm day, sunny sky, cold beer, tasty steaks, great cause, what better excuse to slip out of the office for a few hours. -Brian
