WORKING MOTHERS UNITE!

This blog is no shape of form my endorsement of any candidate for president. I still am very undecided where I stand.

However, after listening to the news this morning I AM PISSED! Now I have to get this off my chest.

First, let me give you a little background on me.

I am a mother to three beautiful children. They happen to be EXTREMELY CLOSE IN AGE. Try 5, 4, and 3! I make it very clear to all my sellers that they are a big part of my life. I have refused listings because my children were discussed as a possible liability. I have lost buyers because of tball games and dance.

I can find another buyer or seller. The first day of kindergarten will never happen again!

Having children has made me a better Realtor. I understand more than ever the importance of time management. I have learned the value of building a team. I have even learned to use my children's social activities as a way to network!

Sarah Palin is a mother of five children. All of us had made choices we would not want our mothers to know about. Let alone the entire county! I do not have an issue with her daughter being pregnant. It is not the information that bothers me. It is the media twist on the information.

HERE IS WHAT PISSES ME OFF! The reporters and media implying that she cannot do her job BECAUSE of her kids. I watched an interview this morning with Palin's best friend. Maggy Rodriquez with The Early Show actually had the nerve to ask her who would keep her kids while she was Vice President. Here is a novel thought: the DADDY! Behind every strong woman is a strong man. There is also preschool, daycare, and school.

I am sure over the next few weeks we will learn more about John McCain's running mate. I look forward to the opportunity to listen to her speech tonight to see what she is all about! I would ask any seller, buyer, or agent to not make preconceived notions of how I run my business because I have a family. I work very hard. Like I tell my sellers, "I have the got tos: got to eat, got to drive, got to pay for childcare!"

Thank you Sarah Palin for some very vaulable lessons. Mothers can be anything they want including the most powerful person on earth! SO Mothers GO SELL SOME HOUSES!

I believe that a woman is capable of more than being in the societally correct Mother Role. I believe that Palin is an outstanding choice for VP -- and because the opposition is using such dirty tactics, I suspect that those tactics will backfire on them. ~ Evelyn

I hate politics and I hate the news media even more!!!!! My observations say that everyone is different. I have met women that can't handle one child while staying home full-time. Then I have met mother's of 5 that also work full-time, volunteer at school, and take college classes on-line. Their house is always neat and the kids are all well behaved. So, everyone is different and therefore we shouldn't judge whether or not Palin can do the job......

I guess as a working mom, my concern is with having 5 kids and attending their extra curricular activities and dr. appts. and the unexpected meeings with teachers and I could go on and on. It is good to have the help of family to deal with the responsibilities of raising and caring for your children. I fear having so many irons in the fire, something or someone might get burnt--hopefully not the children. Taking on the possibility of adding the duty of being a vice-president is a bit much!!

That is very true Cynthia. I have learned to say NO! Also to put everything in perspective. Luckily, I live 4 blocks from my mom and dad and 5 from mother in law!

I coudln't imagine missing too much of my child's life while RUNNING a COUNTRY - even though a daddy/nanny, etc might be great, there is something to be said about a MOTHER who wants to be WITH HER children.

Not to say that I did/didn't like her speech...I don't do politics & especially NOT with my business life but I wanted to comment on this, we've been discussing this in my office lately it seems.

The sad thing is that most people have no idea what the schedule of a VP consists of.

The VP of the US does not have that many duties.

She will have a lighter work load than the average woman does these days except in few cases.

Thought your comments were on the dot. I myself was "ticked" at some of the comments. Luckily, my husband is a full time Dad and does a wonderful job of filling in if I gets caught at a closing, listing appointment, etc. As well as any Dad should!

It's like you said. It's all about priority and time management...not to mention a little support from family.

Boo hoo on the Sellers that thought your kids were a liability!

Susan, Yes children do need their mothers. However, just because we ahve a busy week doesnt mean that we loose out on time with the kids.

I worked Wednesday night until 9:00. Thursday I had a board meeting that went very late.

My husband had to get the kids to bed. My oldest was upset that I didnt get to read her book to her.

I went to school Friday and had lunch with her. In her eyes, that was better than me missing story time. She knows what I do for a living keeps me away sometimes.

However, I have learned that you can allow it to ruin yourlife.

Thanks for the comments! I am very lucky to have a fabulous husband and great suuport. Sometimes I do have to call friends to pick them up from school. Luckily, I have learned to pick very good friends and a partner!

Sounds like we have some of the same values and philosophies!

You said it Katie. I love my business and my clients but I do love my daughter the most. It is without a doubt the best thing besides my husband. I would not trade anything for her and I have vowed to balance my work and life balance so that I don't miss her special moments. I would not want her to tell me about an event - I want to be there to see it with my own eyes. I think having a great and supportive husband and friends is key to balance work committments and family. No matter what your political party or preference is - Sarah is an example of woman having and doing it all.

Anne Marie, I agree about Sarah and thanks for commenting.

I think it is so sad that everyone is looking for things that she has done wrong. I heard there are reporters in Alaska trying to get dirt on her.

I have done things that my mom would not be so proud of....let alone the whole country. I would not want to be in her shoes.
