Free Directory Assistance

To some, this might be a no brainer. However, some of you out there may not be aware of some of the free directory assistance tools available to us.

Let me start by stating that I really dislike calling 411. Maybe it stems from me being a male and hate asking for direction. Okay, not really. But who likes paying $1.79 for each directory assistance phone call? So, if you can, block the number 411.

I've used two free directory assistance providers. The first one is 1800FREE411. Up until a few months ago, I used that one exclusivly, but got sick of the advertisements before I was given the phone number, which wasted my precious wireless minutes. The voice recognition wasn’t really up to par either. It wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t as good as GOOG-411. This brings me to the second directory assistance tool I’ve used. GOOG-411 is by far, superior. I've used GOOG-411 exclusively for the last month and have nothing but good things to report about it. The voice recognition is top notch and the additional free features are awesome.

Have any of you had experience with free directory assistance tools?

Yes I have .... I too also agree that http://www.google.com/goog411/index.html#utm_source=us-et-more&utm_medium=et&utm_campaign=GOOG-411 is by far the best I have found.

I'd rather just use Google. Why make a phone call and use your cell minutes when you can just look it up yourself?

Matt Muelver - GOOG411 is Google. If you are on the road, GOOG411 provides you with voice prompted directory assistance right from your cell phone... free.

Hey, just saw this and wanted to correct something: Our number isn't "1-888-FREE411" but rather 1-800-FREE411.

For all in the real estate field, our number is probably a more useful one than the Google number because while they have only business listings, we've got business, gov't, and residential listings. That residential part has got to be helpful while you're contacting people.

Lastly, you can even use our number to get text message driving directions. Just say "Directions" at the main menu and follow the prompts.
