Wow, what a strange day it was yesterday! It yesterday were the high school prom, I'd have egg on my face, let me tell you! I got stood up twice in one day! I was supposed to meet a Realtor at my office who was considering joining Keller Williams. He called in at 12 Noon sharp to say he wouldn't be coming (after I made a trip across town to meet up with him). Then, I had a showing for a buyer on the South side of town at 4PM and  he didn't show up at all, and failed to call me. I hung out for a while, waiting patiently, but finally gave up and went home. I'm not whining, because the truth is that this is the first time this has happened to me. I've been lucky, I guess. But twice in one day? Ouch! Too bad I can't send them both an invoice for my time and for the gas for my Yukon XL!

Oh well, it happens to the best of us! (Right?)

People that are late and those that no show with no call - are really one of my pet peeves.  If there was an emergency I understand.

KW,

You actually run to meet a buyer at a home that you haven`t qualified yet?!

In this type of market, why?!

Was that an 8-hour day or a 16-hour day? LOL

Kirk, you could be a stand-in for George Donaldson of Celtic Thunder as long as you sing.

Maybe a confirmation call?  At least you are moving and shaking, a lot of Realtors would take one day of bad luck to be as busy as you are.  Shake it off.

Hi Kirk.  By chance did you take that picture on the day of this incident.  You have that look like "What is going on?".  I hope you did not try and conduct more business on that day.  I would have taken the afternoon off, gone to a movie or to a sports bar and watched a game (but not rooted for any team cause they probably would have lost:)

Cheers.

At least the first guy gave you a call.  The buyer situation is more annoying.  I am taking it you have been working with him though.

Yes, like Scott said, why are you meeting someone at a house who hasn't been qualified, or better yet, approved?  I haven't been stood up in a long time, but my lenders have!  That shows how serious they really are.  If they won't even meet with the lender, I'm glad I didn't waste my time.

Hey Kirk, The rule when knocked down twice get up three times, I was stood up twice on Friday as well all my sellers show up when they make an appointment but buyers just don't come in and no courtesy calls either.

In a tourist area like mine, it happens regularly unfortunately..no matter how much you try to confirm the appt they still stand you up!

Hmmm, thats why a little to-do or to-call list carried with you comes in handy (david allen time management trick) at times like this. You turn the waiting into a productive outlet and make calls , might even prospect a little. Good luck on the next trip

Hey Kirk I've been stood up a few times myself.  It does really suck when you have already driven to meet them.  I do appreciate when they call to say they won't make it.   Its like you said it does happen to the best of us. :)

I usually begin my days calling to confirm scheduled appointments.  I think it shows people that my time is valuable and that I care enough to make sure that we will BOTH be there when we said we would.

I still get stood up occassionally, but by calling to confirm I have (on more than one occassion) headed off being stood up because someone accidentally double booked themselves.

I'll agree with George.  Hit the sports bar (I suggest Bailey's).  Have a couple cold ones.  You'll soon forget about the annoying pains in the butt buyers that stood you up.

We should make it a regular stop... "Forget Your Buyers Night"

Today is a whole new day! Make it a great one! Stand firm with people and make sure they're pre-approved to buy and get them to sign a buyer's agency agreement with you!

You better mow that lawn and get the trimmer going around the fence before I stand you up!
