Labor Day is a Holiday that is celebrated both in the United States and Canada. It is a day to honor the laborer.

Unlike, what the children think it is...the last weekend before we have to go back to school or the last week-end of summer.

I can remember my youngest child thinking it was a special day for all the Mommies that had to go through labor, I told her those were our children birthdays!

So it is a day of rest for those who work to keep America going. Enjoy your day, should it be the picnics, the shore or just resting...it's your day!

In the words of Woody Guthrie:

There once was a union maid, she never was afraid
Of goons and ginks and company finks and the deputy sheriffs who made the raid.
She went to the union hall when a meeting it was called,
And when the Legion boys come 'round
She always stood her ground.

Oh, you can't scare me, I'm sticking to the union,
I'm sticking to the union, I'm sticking to the union.
Oh, you can't scare me, I'm sticking to the union,
I'm sticking to the union 'til the day I die.

This union maid was wise to the tricks of company spies,
She couldn't be fooled by a company stool, she'd always organize the guys.
She always got her way when she struck for better pay.
She'd show her card to the National Guard
And this is what she'd say

You gals who want to be free, just take a tip from me;
Get you a man who's a union man and join the ladies' auxiliary.
Married life ain't hard when you got a union card,
A union man has a happy life when he's got a union wife.

Thats Labor Day.

I can remember this as being the last holiday before school started. Now is just seems to be just another day of the week as I will use some of the day to finish finalizing my new report...

In this business you get a few Holidays, New Years Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. About the only holidays people really let you have.  Try to enjoy your day just the same.

Morning Nancy,

Growing up this was the last weekend of summer vacation. Today, for our family anyway, it is an excuse to have a family gathering, rest, relax, recover, and enjoy what we have been granted.

Hope you are able to enjoy your property with your faamily as well.

Yes & No...Due to his traveling so much with his work, we tend to have to do things not on the actual day. I got Las Vegas for my birthday, and he got Puerto Vallarta for his birthday. But on our actual birthday....we pick our favorite restaurant for lunch generally and that is about it. (assuming he is even home) He was gone for my actual birthday this year...so I had to have lunch and go shopping with the girl friends instead. I did go shopping for him a little something the other day...Want to see my new outfit!!  I didn't even remember to get him card this year. Guess the honeymoon is over...LOL!  I have until Tuesday...
