Miserable WomanTake a look at this beauty.  She was left behind in a home in Bonita Springs, Florida that hadn't been redecorated from the early 80's.  She was probably the best looking artifact in the home.  I saved her from the paint brush.  She was almost mustached.

I'm not sure if she's suppose to be Mona Lisa or Frieda Kahlo.

I explained to the new owner of the home that this painting must be saved.  It was special (ugly) enough to be a story piece for years to come and that it has to live on.  She is waiting for the remodel to be complete so she finds her place in this home.

First time home buyers sometimes have to really suck it up when they buy a home.  There are some dated items, well, they're all dated items in this one.  There is some grime.  There is more money to be spent.  In this one, there was even termites.  They're kind of cute once you get past the massive destruction they do...

If it's been a while since you've seen a blast from the past house, count your blessings.  There are still homes with avocado everything, two story ovens and fake walnut paneling.

I'll try to come back with before and after photos when the paint, carpet and termite tent are gone. lol

Chris, I believe you are being sarcastic and busting on the new homeowners...but I think she is fabulous!

Chris - interesting painting. Too bad there aren't some pics to put the whole house in perpsective. :) She does have rather a Frieda look.

Of yes, there are a doo number of homes from the 70s and 80s, and no one seems to understand why folks conitnue to live with that styling. And certainly no buiyers these days want to keep it that way. The ahrder thng to work around is the configurations and architectural details that seemed to be popular then. Paint and carpet is one thing, unuqieu floor plans are another.

Careful, Sharon.  She just might end up in the Christmas gift exchange this year.  I'm *make* sure you get her.

LOL at the "cute" termites! That's exactly what I think, every time I find out one of my sales has them. (not) So, does the M.N. on her necklace represent the initials of the previous owner?

Chris - at least it's not avocado. This week I had homeowners redo a tub and tile that was chartreuse! Maybe your art save would be a conversation piece in the guest bath?
