I've been getting calls and emails about how I can improve my business with multi-level marketing.  I am finding I've been getting more of these since I've been on AR.  ActiveRain has too many pluses for me to be concerned about these calls/emails.  However, to all of you who wish to contact me about this consider this my answer, I'm not interested in multi-level marketing no matter how you think my life/business will benefit by this.  All your emails go in my spam folder and get deleted without me opening them, and I don't and will not return yours calls.  I have better things to do, such as getting the oil changed in my vehicle, going out to lunch with clients, and spending time with my children.  So take me off your call and mailing lists, and add someone who will listen to you.. it is a dead end here.

Does any other ActiveRain member feel the same way I do?  Let's voice our opinion and make it count.

Valerie, I hope they read your post, but don't count on that, spammers are out to farm email addresses not get educated.

I understand your frustration, but it sounds like you are more irritated with 'solicitation' in general than just MLM stuff.

Unfortunately, some MLM people just abandon their relationship- centric focus when they join MLMs.  Not sure why that is, but seems to be the case.  LOL

Imagine a good trusted friend approached you with the same thing.  You may not be interested, but you would likely appreciate their sharing how it may improve your life... would you not?

It amazing how people believe we could be interested in this I NEVER FIGURE OUT how they make money HOWEVER a client of mine is very very successful 20 years in multi level.  Have a great weekend.

Oh comeon now...got a great little offer for you with an established company called QUIXTAR...perhaps you've heard of it's parent company, AMWAY who owns the Orlando Magic?

Seriously though...I've been approached by many of them, did a few of them in my younger days (hence the QUICKSAND reference above) and continue to get emails and calls about that stuff.

Most of these companies have "rules" in place that prohibit that type of activity but most of their leaders and uplines teach to do it anyway...it's a numbers game but they can surely leave my number off! :)

I also seem to get a TON of calls for LEAD GENERATION companies and I just don't do that either!

Unfortunately, MLS's are a wishful thinking way of getting rich. The concept sounds good, but its not as easy as they pretend. There are always first timers who will give it a try. That's why they keep sending out the emails. By the way do you need any insurance, vitamins, laundry soap, spray shine, etc. Just kidding!

Mary.. I got two more emails from spammers/scammers since I posted this.  Can you believe it?

08/28/2008 01:54 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

Chris.. Usually a friend is NOT out to scam you and *really* has an interest in your opinion.  Not spammers.. they are in it for the money.

08/28/2008 01:55 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

Lynn.. I just don't have the time/interest for this.

08/28/2008 01:56 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

Ron.. I like your idea of leaving *my number off* thought.  Do you think this will happen?  NOT.

08/28/2008 01:58 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

Michael, Anything that takes is easy, someone else would have thought of first and has retired on that idea.  When something sounds too good to be true.. it probably is.

Valerie, oh darn! I had this great DVD I wanted you to watch that would only take 20 minutes of your time! Okay,...just kidding! I'm tired of getting those calls too! Hang in there. They think all us Realtors are destitute!

Deb..As you know there is a difference for us Realtors between destitute, and drive.  Hmmm which category do you think we fall into.  This is why these solicitors never get it.

Valerie - been there, done that....I do however know a number of people who have been successful in a number of different MLM companies.  I too have been getting a considerable number of calls from multi-level marketers.  I can remember when I did dabble in this (before I did real estate) real estate agents were suggested numerous times as a great group to target.  Guess some things will never change.

Valerie I have also been getting these.  This is a violation of AR membership, and in the future I am going to be forwarding their e-mails to the boys upstairs, and asking them to take action.

08/28/2008 09:24 PM by George Souto (McCue Mortgage Co.)

I have gone to MLM meetings where the well to do are in attendance- lawyers, doctors, and other successful people. The idea they have is making easy money- a new fresh product or idea, they want to know about it. Whether or not they make any money at it, I never hang around to find out, and I delete these emails just as soon as I receive them.

Valerie,

I am not aware of an AR type of site for multi level marketers, so they have to resort to the calls and the emails.    I feel the same way.    I used to have people telemarket for me for years, but can't imagine going back to that form of business.   No reason to say anything other than "thanks, I am not interested, please remove me from your list".

08/28/2008 09:35 PM by Tim Marose - Maryland Buyer & Refinance Specialist (Nationwide Mortgage Services)

Val- I agree with you 100%. I don't like all the spam either. It gets deleted real fast. I don't have time for it either. Good blog.

08/29/2008 12:43 AM by Laura Watts (Positive Properties, LLC)

Donna.. When I was younger, I tried some of these.. and they never panned out.. Now that I have children to support.. I am NOT even going to venture in this direction.

08/29/2008 05:43 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

George.. Great idea.. I think we should all banned together and forward these to the powers that be.

08/29/2008 05:44 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

Mary Jo, As I mentioned before, if it sounds too good to be true.. it probably is.  Nothing in life is easy, and worth it at the same time.

08/29/2008 05:46 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

Tim,

By accident I picked up the phone and it was one of the MLM calls.  I played along, just to find out where they got my name from.. "I went online to ActiveRain and saw you were one of the top realtors in the state and thought... yada, yada, yada... ".. I responded.. not interested and hung up.

08/29/2008 05:49 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

Laura.. Thanks for reading my blog.. Great minds *DO* think alike.  I have no time for these at all.. calls or emails.

08/29/2008 05:50 PM by Valerie Osterhoudt (Johnson Real Estate, Inc.)

Valerie,

AR is a gold-mine of email address and phone numbers, as are other social networking sites. The thing about MLM is that to be successful, it needs to be a full-time pursuit, regardless of what the recruiter tells you. In most cases they don't know becasue they're not that far along themesleves.

Steve.. I already have a full-time job.. and I love it.  There is a do not all list for phone numbers, there should be a place for email addresses too.
