I just wanted to brag just a little bit about my Honda CRV and the incredible gas mileage I am getting with it.

The Honda CRV is a "crossover" SUV that is built on the same chassis (they call it a 'platform') as the Honda Civic is.  So... that gives you a bit of an idea about how nice and roomy it is inside.  Enough headroom for my poofy Texas hair :)

Gas prices are coming down.  I passed several gas stations today and noticed that regular is selling for $3.34 a gallon.  That is like seventy cents lower than it was about a month ago.  Cool !

Anyhow... on with my brag.  I drive quite a bit... specializing in New Home Sales as I do.  So... I can easily drive between 125 and 175 miles a day... and really not go anywhere... LOL.  Just all around Tarrant County... which is the county that Fort Worth, Texas is in.

Above you will see a picture I took of my dashboard odometer today that shows my gas mileage.  Notice right in the middle... towards the top.  There it is... 30.0 miles per gallon.  Incredible.  By the way... my CRV is a 2007... and I took delivery of it on July 14, 2007.  Right now I have about 27,000 miles on it.  All that... and I never go anywhere... LOL.

Just for fun, I looked up on the Honda website to see what kind of mileage is being quoted on the current CRV's.  It quotes 22 in the city and 27 on the open road.  Somehow... with my own personal brand of non-aggressive driving... I have ended up getting 30.0 MPG.  I just felt so good about it, I wanted to share it... just in case anyone on Active Rain is looking for a crossover SUV with decent gas mileage.

Happy Car Shopping !

Hi Karen Anne... Honda builds an oustanding vehicle.  I used to work for them in Marysville and East Liberty Ohio at their U.S. Auto Plants and I would recommend their products to anyone without hesitation.  They will last forever!

Karen, it looks like you picked a winner for gas mileage. I've always heard Honda has a good reputation for good gas mileage.

Steve:  I am very familiar with the Marysville HOnda plant in Ohio.  I grew up just east of Cleveland in Mentor, Ohio... and was a Realtor there for nine years before I moved to Texas.  The last Honda I had... an Accord... had 233,000 miles on it before I retired it.  Have a great time in Austin !

Michael:  Yes, it really is a winner.  Nowhere near the cushy ride as the Escalade or Navigator, but probably more than twice the MPG.  Thanks for commenting... take care...

Karen - Did you notice the little arrow pointing left on the fuel gauge?

Did you know that it shows that your gas tank is located on the left hand side of the SUV?

All cars have that arrow next to the fuel gauge but it was only about a year ago that I noticed the arrow and figured out what it meant.

Stewart:  I think I read about that arrow thingie recently... might have been in one of your posts ???  Also... there is a very hard-to-see arrow pointing backwards towards the driviers seat in my car... indicating that there is a wild-woman doing the driving... LOL.

I did blog about that and love sharing that piece of trivia.

and LOL - thanks for warning me ... I'll watch out when I'm in Fort Worth.

Karen Anne - my Durango is rated for 17 on the highway, but on our trip to NC we averaged 20-21.  And that was with the A/C running all the time, traveling through the mountains and a fair amount of city driving mixed in.  I was impressed!  Expecially since it's so big and heavy.

But I DO like those CRVs.  That will be my next vehicle, I'm sure.  We've been talking about it quite a bit lately.

I would love to see 30 miles per gallon.  THAT would've been my first car...back in 1987!  I've had 4 SUV's since then and don't even want to think about what I'm paying per mile...as I go NO WHERE just like you!  I drive everywhere but tend to burn a tank of gas without really doing much of anything.  I guess it's a good thing the real estate market is so HOT right now and I can afford to do just that!  LOL

Excellent.  Its important to find a car that will perform for you, especially with today gas prices.  Thank goodness they have come down a little.  30 MPG is awesome!

I thought my driving time was bad. I work demographically and not geographically so I sell homes in Counties afar......but 27,000 in just over a year. Phew!

I love Honda cars!  In December I bought the 2008 Accord which was just redesigned.  I love it!  However, I do not have the feature that you have in the CRV that tells you the MPG.  I need the "old fashion" calculator to figure out my MPG.  :)
