This is a Negative review of the book.. I really did not like it at all.

I have had the book "Think and Grow Rich" , by Napoleon Hill, sitting on my desk for years and kept thinking that I need to Read it....  One of the Brokers in my area has it on his desk, he said he reads it about once a year.. so I finally decided to read it.

I took the book with me when I went to Camp this summer (I am one of the Scoutmasters for my sons Boy Scout troop, and actually posted a few blogs of my camp adventures in July).

It was one of the few Paper backs, so it was easy to carry, and it was on my to-do list... so into the bag it went along with "Fastnet Force 10"

I had the mornings open in camp to sit and be bored, so I picked up T+GR and tried my best to read the darn thing... It bored me... Had to re-read the same pages over since they did not "grab" me. I realized about 80 pages into it that it sounded familiar, I must have tried to read it years ago and had the same opinion.  So as far as a book Review goes... Just go buy the "Little Engine That Could"  That says the same exact thing with some colorful pictures for us ADD types and you would probably get the message in a more clear fashion.

T&GR just says the same thing over and over again in the most boring fassion sounding more like an info-mercial than any useful tool... So I do not recommend the book at all.

Fast Net... That I do recommend.. I finished that book in a few days. It is about a Sail Boat race in the 1970's when a big gale blew in.  I race Sail boats... so this was entertaining and I had no problem devouring the book, as for T&GR, that goes back on the shelf to collect more dust.

Have a great weekend

Rob

Robert - That's funny - I also have an unread copy of this book.  I have always hear so many good things about it over the years.  Thanks for the review!

Mindset is truly a crucial component to success...but I think it's positive mental attitude and life experiences that make the impact, rather than reading a book.

Jason, I may have saved you some time!  I am a very positive person... I always look for the positive spin and firmly believe that being positive is the first step to being successful.  But I am VERRRRy Negative on this book!

Vickie... you are 100% correct!  Maybe I will stop collecting all the un-read business books and start reading just for fun!

Hey!  Think and Grow Rich is a great book.  It's quite dated by now but the principles are correct.  You need to visualize your success and your subconscious will make it so.

I read it many years ago and loved it.  It is like you said a basic power of positive thinking.  It had a positive impact on me and I still would recommend it to others.

Randall and Russ... I dont disagree with the message... I FIRMLY believe that your glass has to be half full, and if it is half empty you need to get a salaried job somewhere!  But the book .. Hated it!

I agree with Rob - absolutely hated that book.  I give you a lot of credit for getting to page 80 - don't think I made it that far.

Agree with Vickie above - attitude and experience are what is important and I don't need a book to tell me that.

Robert-

I haven't read this book, but if you are looking for something to read, I can recommend  "The Secret", which is a fantastic book and is based on The Law of Attraction.  I have read it several times and am a proponent of its message.

I didnt' read it....and thanks to your 'review'...I don't intend to.   THanks Rob :)    have a good weekend.

Patti, I have heard good things about the secret... it is sitting on a book shelf somewhere in my house... maybe I have to dust that one off.

T & GR is a classic and the information it contains is pricesless in my opinion.  I can see how it can be a hard read for some however, for me it's a valuable asset to my business.  Try reading "The Go-Giver" by Bob Burg.  That's a fantastic book that's written in a parable format.  I think you would like it.  It's a quick and easy read.

Good to know.  I hate when I pick up a book and all I want to do is read the last page to end the misery.

I agree that the book is not a captivating read but the message is very important.  Many times we do not get this message in our experience or from those around us, which is why it's so important to have something like this book.  For me the turning point was reading "Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki to get the mindset.

Jared, I really like the Rich Dad series.  I think it should be required reading for high schoolers.  I would also add David Bach's books into the curriculum.  Saw Kiyoski speak at Madison Square Garden - he was an interesting speaker.

Lol, Robert.  I bought the book and was feeling bad about not reading it.  Now I don't!  I like Kiyoski's books, too.

I love the Rich Dad series.  Saw Robert in Orlando once, he's a cool dude.

Rob,  I always find these kinds of books slow going.  I'd rather be lost in a novel.  Thanks for the review.  I'm sorry I'm only now getting to it.
