First impressions are everything. Most buyers won't even bother looking inside a house if they don't like what they see from the curb. By spending time working on the property's exterior you will increase your chances of peaking a buyer's interest.

Where to start? Ask some friends to come take a look and give an honest opinion. Then walk around the neighborhood and see if anyone else's house looks nicer than yours and ask your self why. You need to stop looking at your property as home and look at it as a commodity for which you want to receive top dollar.

It should not cost a fortune and many of the repairs you can do your self. Cracked windows, broken trim or siding, dysfunctional doorbells and other such items should be repaired. Everything that is dirty should be washed: windows, siding, doors. Landscaping is crucial to overall appeal and if your property is lacking, embellish it with potted plants, flowers and seasonal décor.

4 Comments on Curb Appeal Needed!

Welcome to ActiveRain, Hollis! Excellent idea to have friends take a look at your home prior to putting it on market. Many times owners become desensitized to the sights, sounds (and sometimes smells) that might jump out at potential buyers and discourage them from looking further at the home. A fresh perspective can be a great start toward getting the home ready for sale.
