As the owner of a regional for sale by owner service, I find the sites that you mentioned very interesting. Where did you possibly find them??? With the exception of craigslist, I have never found ANY of these websites appearing in any search engine in over seven years in business and hours of research. In fact, one site has so many typos that I'm dumbfounded as to why anyone would truly recommend it.

Most any FSBO website that is "FREE" is a lead generator for other services, ie. mortgage companies and real estate agents being among the prime beneficiaries of the information that a home is for sale by owner. Owners.com is tied into the purchase of a product and sellers never remove outdated listings. Buyers learn very quickly what websites are time wasters. Unfortunately, sellers are usually the last to find out why their phone isn't ringing -- at least from potential buyers.

If you really want sellers to succeed, give them real options. They are more apt to appreciate your help and candor. Our advice to sellers who wish to sell by owner is to locate a regional service in their area that provides both local print advertising and Internet advertising for a FEE. Buyers trust sites that control their inventory and return often.
