"Litter Box Alcove" is not a common feature in a real estate listing.

But, to millions of Americans,  a place to put the cat's litter box is a serious consideration and a desirable attribute in a home.

We were looking at affordable condos in Cary this morning and I posed the question.

I had the nice lady back and forth on where it would go.  That condo had a couple of possibilities.  The townhome we viewed next just really had no place suitable for Kitty's relief station.  I'm sure that's why it didn't make the cut.

We decided that having a private and dignified spot for the litter box is just an overlooked design opportunity.

Dang, I have a listing with animals and it is getting hit bad for animals. I wish I had this client for my HOME. not a townhouse or condo.

I believe we are going to have to put the litter box in the garage and make it off limits. The only reason for this on is because of the kittens that are not old enough to give away yet. We are two weeks out before we can give them away.

I need the understanding clients.

We are even going to replace the carpet at closing for those that are alergic to cats. Go figure.

I know you will find the perfect place for your client.

Susan,

Isn't it interesting how you can go into a home and sometimes not even know they have a pet, and in another home it is overwhelming?

I am a little allergic to cats and dogs, and appreciate a home where the folks are fastidious.

I have discussed the issue of where the litter box will go with several clients, and you are right- if there's no place for the cat box, there's no place for the cat, there's no place for the buyer. But I never considered it a design flaw.

Apparently you have missed out on the kitty room. Had some buyers where the cats had their own room.  It was quite entertaining for the cats in there.  They had like 4 cats and you would never have known (other than the scratching posts everywhere...

Penny,

With T5 in full disarray currently, I bet that they will be falling all overthemselves to implement those fields...
