It’s been hot here in Cary, NC lately….very hot! Although that’s not unusual, it’s something you have to take into consideration when you have your home listed for sale.
When you have guests come to your home, you want them to be comfortable. When a prospective buyer comes to inspect your property, they really are guests and you REALLY want to make them feel comfortable. That’s why it’s important to keep your home cool and comfortable, because you never know when “guests” may drop in. It’s all part of that, oh so important, first impression.
You may have the perfect entrance, manicured lawn, freshly painted exterior, the smell of fresh baked bread in the kitchen, but if your air conditioner isn’t on or set too high, it will automatically create doubts in the minds of your “guests”. I’d suggest setting the thermostat to at least 79 degrees between the hours of 9 AM and 8 PM, as this is when prospective buyers view most homes.
If you are unable to be there to adjust the thermostat manually, you might want to consider getting a programmable thermostat. They are so versatile and easy to set now. They can be programmed for different days of the week and different times of the day. You can have it set to adjust to a lower temperature an hour before you normally get home from work, or if your home is vacant, you can have it turn off completely after 8 PM and back on again at 8 AM. Talk about an energy saver! I think it would pay for itself in no time!
You can even uses the programmable thermostat as an added feature to your home, along with the quality insulation, energy savings windows, ceiling fans or window shades and blinds that all help to lower energy costs. When the temperature is as hot as it is here in Cary, NC, you want your buyer to know you’ve done everything you can to make your energy costs as low as possible. Using these energy-saving points in your sales flyers and website promotions as an excellent way to catch the eye of the summer buyer!
Great information! It has been hot - and with school out (and kids home all day) - I figure we have higher bills coming!
