This was kind of a funny thing that happened yesterday. The company that hires me to do their home loan document signings has a new agent. I had done a doc signing for him two days ago. He learned a few things from that experience (like there is no right of recission on investment properties). He's got a lot to learn in a few areas. That's why it was funny to me yesterday that he laughed and said no when I offered him a chance to go on a document signing with me. This would have been a great experience for him because I had to reassure the clients a little and help them see that they are getting a great deal. He missed out on a few more nuggets that would have helped him along.

If you're new to the business and somebody offers a chance to sit in front of clients (even if you have nothing to gain financially), it's worth your time for what you'll get experiencially.

This agent is going to do great because he's got the right trainer. However, he laughed off a great opportunity. As long as he has the "I'm too good for that" mentatlity, he'll take a little longer to learn some things he needs to know.

I agree with you to a certain extent.  I sat at a lot of these meetings in the beginning because I was too shy to get my feet wet.  Had I gumption to be prospecting, making calls and visits, my career might have taken off a little more quickly!

Dennis,  Sounds like he missed a great opportunity to learn in a real life situation.

A mentor can be a valuable asset.  In order to benefit from having a mentor you have to be open to listening and observing.

People who usually think they are too good for something usually don't make good mentees.
