I know you are real busy...but if you could take just 60 seconds and share your thoughts...that would be great!  I'm interested in finding out how and what agents think about getting technology training they want and need.

What would be your first step to finding someone who provided training on Outlook?

  • Go online and search?
  • Ask people you know?

What is the most important to you when you need training...

  • Cost
  • Specific Topic
  • How much training you'll receive (i.e. 1 hour, 2 hours, etc)
  • Complimentary Tech Support
  • Convenience

What would you be willing to pay for a one-on-one session that lasted 60 minutes?

Would you be willing to take a live training session online?

  • No travel...(no traffic or parking problems)
  • Teacher student interaction...all done in real time over the internet (watch and do) and a phone line (listen and ask questions).
  • The topic could cover exactly what you want to learn
  • Easy to schedule a time that is convenient for you
  • You could put the traiing to use right away

What topic is of most interest to you...

  • Creating Form Letters and Address Labels
  • Using Categories to Simplify Your Communication with Clients and Prospects
  • Sorting Your Database to Communicate with a specific group of people in a manner that is relevant to them
  • Don't Loose Your Hard Work - Back Up Your Data
  • Getting Your List into Outlook - Importing a file

Thanks again for your input

Jeff

7 Comments on I'm curious...what would you pay for training on Outlook

I don't know that I would. It would have to be put to me in such a way that it seemed worth my investment.

Jeff,

Okay, admittedly I'm a consummate marketer! Occupational hazard I guess.

I think a better way to have posed your question is along the lines of:

As a Real estate Professional, do you need any of the following:

Buyer/Seller Contact Database
Lender/Title/Escrow (etc.) Database
Transaction Coordinating/Tracking
Commission and Expense Tracking
Group Email Capabilities
Appointment Scheduler
Phone Call History (incoming/outgoing)
To-Do Lists (Daily/Monthly/Yearly)
etc., etc.

Let me show you how to use a program you already own (Microsoft Outlook) to accomplish all of those tasks and more. Online or over-the-phone.

Then, perhaps explain that you're trying to get a feel for what that training is worth. As written, it doesn't seem to provide much REALTOR value, know what I mean?

I have to tell you...I use Outlook every minute of every day...to track everything! I'd be totally lost without it...and know precisely how valuable a tool it can be! I own a real estate marketing company, and I'm surprised at how few of our customers have fully implemented all (or any) of Outlook's capabilities. Many of the so-called real estate programs out there...suffer greatly due to poor programming, steep learning curves, or lack of customization or "fit" for the real everyday workings of the real estate industry. Outlook could easily fill that void...and has proven itself to be the one program I truly can't live without.

I would think you could offer individual and group rates....and I implore you to program several real estate oriented Outlook forms/templates which can be used and/or customized to fit any agent's needs, regardless of specialty or location.

Just my two cents...Good Luck!!

Dave

I have a tutorial that came with my computer when I purchased it.  It has training for everything you mentioned.  There are also places on line to take the classes for free.  Are you interested in getting the training or giving it?

I don't think I would pay, especially because asking co-workers or friends how to complete tasks is a fairly effective way to expand my abilities.

BTW- If I need a quick answer to a project I am stuck on I just ask the smartest person in the room.

I would do an online training, but honestly just too busy to do so now. In Michigan it is our Spring market and I am shuffling too many transactions. I would do it when it is a slower season. I would start to give some training in your blog, get a following.

I followed one of your tips on a comment last night on emailing and mail merge through categories. I couldn't get it to work but I was tired. So I'll try again. I would do short snippits here and grown a following, then I think people would jump in.

I for one would like to know what I am paying for.

Great comments.  I appreciate you all taking the time to provide your input, I find it very valuable.

David...I'll check out your company website and see if I can't steer some biz your way.

Melody...I know most software programs come with a tutorial...and a manual.  The problem is most never do the tutorials or read the manual.  "Askiing the smartest person in the room..." that's great that there is always someone around to help you.

Missy...you shouldn't have any problems with the mail merge...I've had several agents email me that "it worked" and that it has saved them a chunk of time...let me know if you have any issues though.

Thanks again.
