Tomorrow morning when you wake up, our site will probably have a bunch of bugs.

Now that we have the bad news out of the way.............how about some great news! The site should be twice as fast because we are going to have twice as much computing power behind it. Tonight, we will be transitioning the site to all new, state-of-the-art servers. This will be the final step of a six month process where we have invested time and resources to bring stability and speed to ActiveRain.

This doesn't mean we are going to stop here because ActiveRain is quickly growing. We will no doubt start our next round of performance enhancements soon as it's a never ending cycle for a rapidly growing site.

The Details:

ActiveRain will be taken offline tonight at Midnight Pacific Standard Time and will be down for at least five hours. This is a MAJOR undertaking and some components are very difficult to test in a staging environment so we do expect a fair amount of bugs.

As you encounter bugs tomorrow, please use the 'Contact ActiveRain' link at the bottom of any page to report the issue. The more thorough you are in reporting the bug, the more quickly we can remedy the situation. In reporting your issue, please include what browser type and version you are using.

We want to apologize in advance for the inconvenience this may cause you.

Godspeed,

SS ActiveRain

106 Comments on ActiveRain is broken tomorrow!!

A prayer from a frequent blogger who can't remember how to spell sometimes early in the morning before coffee: Please, dear RainGods, let spellcheck work when the site is up again. Amen

Later in the rain~Deb

WooHoo! Let's do it!  Hey...I love it now...so making it better will make it twice as good!

One thing....I make it easy for people to read my blog...no stuff to make it open slower and stuff like that... the reason being.....not everyone is internet savvy and the consumer will just jump and go somewhere else if it doesn't open quick.

Yes, the spell check has been a problem for me....I thanked my lucky stars that I didn't suffer in the years before spell check.  I came of age JUST at the right time.  It was  a "new thing" when I was in college...but it was really a  God send.

Thank you, AR, for the update. It has been especially frustrating in recent days to post articles, and the functionality is not what it used to be (e.g, the new insret copy box that appears which obliterates any formatting you try to bring over from word documents). Hopefully any bugs will be quickly exterminated...but you can be sure the folks here will let you know if they aren't.

Keep up the great work!

Nothing has changed. It's still slow.  Can't load a post.  It gives me an error message that I need a title, the title is there.  Now the title and the entire post is gone.

This has been the case since about 7:30 p.m. Thursday EST.  I don't believe it's related to the new servers.

However, until it's fixed, I'm out of operation.

AR, FYI- I did send it this to the "Contact AR" not sure if it went through.

Trying to send a welcome e-mail to a member who joined our Group, only 1 at a time, tried it twice. This was the error report.

You exceeded the maximum number of emails an hour for IP address 127.0.0.1. We only allow 10 per hour.

Hopefully the switch over went well.

Brad & Active Rain, I'm working with a couple to sign up as a new member. I sent 2 invites to them from the invite page, neither invite went through. Neither one went through, so we tried though the direct invite via my regular e-mail.  The invite page when they enter all their information (4 times they tried) keeps coming up with an "Active Rain Error" and "An Unexpected Error Occured". I had them try setting up another e-mail account to see if that would work, no luck. Can you please let me know when they will be set to try again.
